he came along way from the prospect days of gassing out against rubio , he can pressure and has great power , GGG starts slow usually and i can see him getting pressured at the start , will he come through ? probably , but there will be one or 2 scarry moments for him this fight.
GGG is bigger and has a longer reach, can also counter punch extremely well as he showed during his amateur days. If Lemieux pressures him it will be over early. Lemieux is up against it anyway you look at it. I just hope both fighters stay healthy and GGG gets this opportunity to perform.
Didn't Golovkin drop Curtis with a double left hook on the inside? Didn't Golovkin stop Monroe with a combination on the inside? For anyone suggesting Monroe exposed Golovkin's inside game, you need to go back and re-watch. You need to realize whatever Monroe was doing, Golovkin was allowing it. You don't believe me? Golovkin drops Monroe two times in the 2nd round. He was so clearly revealing the mismatch that most were for certain Monroe would be out in the 3rd. Everything Golovkin did in the round, he did it effortlessly. Then, in a surprising turn of events, they started fighting close and engaging more. Monroe wasn't pushing Golovkin back, but Golovkin wasn't pushing Monroe back either. This continued on for 3 rounds where people where questioning whether or not Monroe had a chance. He was landing! And landing some clean punches, even if Golovkin was never affected by it. Golovkin looked as if he was displaying some vulnerabilities- that his inside game had flaws. Well, guess what? When Golovkin decided he was ready to knock Monroe out, he did exactly that. He came out in the sixth round. They started off close, but Golovkin looked like a different fighter. Monroe started off fighting on the inside and Golovkin caught Monroe with a clean straight right hand lead and uppercut immediately (it was the first combo GGG threw in that rd!). Monroe backed off. He tried to fight on the inside again, because obviously it'd work right? It was working for the past three rounds! Nope. When Monroe went back to the inside to try again, Golovkin immediately landed a left uppercut-left hook combo which hurt Monroe so bad that the entire sequence ultimately lead to him being ko'ed in the next six seconds. Golovkin looked like a different fighter on the inside in the sixth round. Monroe didn't even have an opportunity to throw because Golovkin finished him off so quickly (15 seconds...). It was clear that Golovkin was carrying Monroe, and any success that it appeared Monroe had was purely because Golovkin was allowing it. Golovkin could've knocked out Monroe at any point in that fight. If Lemieux tried to fight Golovkin on the inside and Golovkin wasn't carrying him or trying to prolong the fight, then it would look identical to the first 15 seconds of the 6th round against Monroe.
He can pressure when he's allowed too. I agree GGG starts slow but that's more in terms of tenderizing his opponents then throwing punches. The reason GGG has been hit cleanly in fights is because, as aposter rightly said, he's allowed it. GGG is a smart fighter and he's not gonna let Lemmy get some steam.
I think that by the last minute of round 1 it will be very obvious that DL doesn't like what's coming back at him when he tries to engage.
Hey I like Lemieux, but he is all power and heart, nothing else really. He doesn't have footwork, he has no balance, he is not good at cutting off the ring, he doesn't take punches really well etc. We will see how fast he can be against GGG, but even if GGG is slower he is incredibly accurate with his punches.
Lemieux is stronger and hits much harder. Don't underrate him. His left hook will take your head off. He will come in with his triple jab and unload.
what's he going to do? counter punch and do all the things he doesnt know how to do. why accept a fight for not that much more money than you'd get for beating up bums. he'll try to ko ggg and get ko'd himself.
i'll watch the sixth round again. so, golovkin haters are saying that gennady needs wide space because he can only score looping hooks or bombs? :rofl like his punching is limited? :rofl damn.. haters are blind. can't see lemieux standing up to what golovkin will bring.
