    Rubio: 48-5 (41 KO's) 231 total rounds, 76% KO ratio.
    5' 10", 70" reach.

His best win at 160 was probably Ornales who is better than anyone David fought so far.

    Lemieux: 24-0 (23 KO's) 53 total rounds, 96% KO ratio.
    5' 10", 64" reach.

Best win was probably Ayala. I think Rubio would beat the **** out of Ayala, but he would not blow him out in one round.

This is a great fight that has the potential to be an action packed affair.

If it's a third consecutive unexpected 1st round KO for DL - what will your opinion be?

    HOLY ****:admin

I'd be very impressed, and it is not out of the question considering what Jantuah did!

Williams would get KOed after taking a Quintana style beating by Lemieux. Martinez on the other hand is awkward and fast, and will take a UD easy over David in his current form. Still, we know mandatories can be forced to wait sometimes a year for their fight to be finally made (and not do it anyway a la Povketin), so I would bet Lemieux can get in a fight or two against at least Rubio level opposition prior to a fight with Martinez or Williams. Crazy, this actually makes me want Williams to win so he can get mauled by Lemieux. Martinez...I pity Lemieux he faces Martinez, but I would hope he'd learn from his loss.

    wait for it

Boo is going to come in here any second now and claim Lemieux will have his hands full and pick Rubio for the upset.

Rubio doesn't have the skills to do anything more than not get blasted in one round by Lemieux, so this mandatory is a formality provided David takes this fight seriously.

Wow, now that's some great great news ! I can't believe Lemieux could be facing Martinez or Williams next year. Both could school him, but that would be good for him in the long run (if he's not knocked out). There's also a chance he lands a big devastating one.

Jantuah was a big puncher in his day and Rubio was caught cold it happens in boxing.
Im not saying Rubio is world class or even a potential title holder or anything but he does have some respectable wins and if you compare it to Ayalas best win ie his draw against Sergio mora...
I would have to say that rubio is the better fighter.

People were saying this mess about Pavlik when he fell into a fight with Miranda about the opposition gap, and look how that turned out. David has got Pavlik's punching power (at least) and is more technically sound that Kelly. Sure, he has that Ricky Hatton reach; but Tyson and Mariciano had short reaches too, and what did they accomplish?

Pretty good step up for Lemieux. Rubio is a good ranked opponent to get. It will be a decent test of his skills as well but should be within his abilities if he's got the ability.

After hearing his interview today it seems he is going to fight Rubio early next year, and then go right for the top. I think it's a bad choice but he would know best.
