Holmes' legacy takes a hit by losing twice to skinny Spinks. Tyson lost to the better fighters he faced, without exception. Bowe could have been the post-Ali GOAT, but his entire career consisted of 3 fights against Evander. Without those fights he did the square root of F.A. Wlad Klit's best win is against Haye. :yep It's hardly an embarrassment of riches aside from Lennox.
What would Lennox have done to Spinks? What DID Tyson do to Spinks? Holmes losing TWICE to Spinks is not the stuff of GOATness.
Ali, Holmes, Tyson, Lennox, Wlad (the last three fairly interchangeable, shuffled depending on your criteria, weighing h2h or resume more) - the clear-cut top 5 of the last half-century.
Excuse me - under what criteria is Wlad greater than Lennox (or indeed Tyson). This should be good...
Longevity of championship form. :conf, For me personally, I'd put him fifth on that list, behind them both. There are some, however, that argue he's above Holmes. On paper they do kind of have a legitimate argument, even though I don't agree with it.
Against who? He's fought no-one. There is only one true measure of greatness: quality of opposition defeated. That is why Ali is the greatest. Because he beat the best opponents. Not because he held on to the title for years beating bums. It's people like you who devalue boxing across the board. You should be ashamed of yourself putting Wlad up there with these other fighters. Who has Wlad beaten that is anywhere near Lennox going to America and unifying the division against Holyfield? He hasn't even unified the division at all, ffs.
You're preaching to the choir. I don't think Wlad's resume has a ton of quality. He did, however, face all the quality opposition that was available to him, and had been dominant even having done that, for a long time now.
Yeah, if you're smoking crack cocaine. Back on sober street Wlad has never beaten anyone near Ken Norton's level for a start.
Beating what's in front of you in a weak era is not good enough. You can't be up there with the all-time greats based on that. It doesn;t work that way. And even if it did work that way, Wlad has NOT beaten what was in front of him. He has unavenged losses to a bunch of fighters. Lennox does not.
Not really his fault the division has been so barren during his time on top. Again, you're not saying anything I don't agree with. There aren't enough quality scalps to put him over the other four ATG heavyweights of the last half-century, for me. In the absence of such quality scalps being available, however, Wlad has done the next best thing and cleaned out the division with a long, consistent reign.
