Lennox Lewis 1997 vs Joe Frazier 1971

I can see two very different scenarios,with each man winning. Lewis could come out all guns blazing,hoping to catch the often slow starting Frazier with his big shots,and stop him. This could feasibly happen. But,if Lennox comes out cautiously,Frazier would warm up,and take the bout into the middle stages,and turn it into a war of attrition,and if that occurs,it'll be Joe who wins,by stopping his man sometime after round 10.

 

Lewis via TKO or KO early.

 

If Lewis comes out and starts slow he keeps Frazier away with teh jab to soem success throwing the big right evry so often to keep Joe cautious. Evrytime Joe gets on the inside LEwis clinches and wears him down by leaning on him along with using his deadly in clinch uppercuts and a few semi-dirty shots to the kidneys or holing the back of the head . Joe dies in round 8-10.


If Joe comes streight at him and takes an early fight to Lewis trying to wear down teh body Lewis goes nuts and out brawles him firing big rights to the head and clinching and uppercutting this could mean Joe is down in 2-4 rounds.

Ok I know Lewis has the power to KO Frazier, but lets be honest if Lewis can be hurt by Mccall, Briggs, Rahman Bruno and Mercer to name a few I have little doubt that Frazier also could hurt him. Frazier is super aggressive and that might cost him here early here but I really don't think so. I think Frazier lands enough wicked left hooks to the head and body in the early exchanges to get the respect of Lennox.. This will cause Lewis to box more on the outside and stay away from the exchanges on the inside and because of that I favor Lewis winning this fight on points but either man could put the others lights out at any point in the fight!!

 

Lewis does not beat the March 8,1971 Frazier that beat Ali in MSG...

 

Frazier has zero chance. Lennox by early, brutal and very one-sided beatdown.

 

I think Frazier would be put on the deck on the way in, but his pressure would start to grow on Lennox and eventually force a stoppage.

 

I went with Lewis Decision, but I can see this happening as I stated in my post, Frazier is dangerous all night and Lewis has his best chance staying away and boxing..

 

I love Frazier h2h but Lennox Lewis is all wrong for him. As we saw in his fight against Tua, Lennox knew how to use his size and follow a gameplan...especially when his opponent was dangerous. I think a fight with Frazier would go almost exactly as it went down with Tua...circling, throwing lead rights and clinching followed by uppercuts when cornered. Before you guys go nuts on me, I'm aware that Joe Frazier is better at almost everything than David Tua but Lewis was so good at managing these kinds of situations that I believe the outcome in this matchup would be almost identical...except closer on the cards and Lennox looking like he was actually in a fight(a rare thing in his prime).

 

1. Lennox can out-box anybody (apart from Ali). In addition to Ali, I would add Larry Holmes to that statement.

 

It's highly debatable that Lewis can outbrawl any fighter in the history of the division.

He was certainly better at brawling than he's often given credit for, but the only good fighter he comprehensively outbrawled was Briggs.

Lewis - Frazier would be a replay of Foreman - Frazier I, just that Lewis is much more precise with his punches than Big George. Frazier wouldn't be given the time to land a single punch.
