He's definitely talking about Old Foreman, Byrd or Wlad.

Sanders would have brutally knocked Lewis the **** out, Rahman style

Lummox desperately avoided southpaws his entire career

he would have been obliterated by the fastest/ most explosive/ most powerful hw southpaw ever

The Old Foreman theory is interesting. I remember Lennox Lewis being interviewed during the Shannon Briggs-George Foreman fight, he was asked about the prospect of fighting Foreman, Lewis said "he's an option." But he clearly wasn't enthusiastic about it.

My guess is that its not so much that Lewis was afraid of him, but that the fight was sort of a lose lose situation. I think Lennox had a lot of respect for Foreman and was not really that gung ho about beating up on an older version of him. But on the other hand, he couldn't really toy with him or take it easy on him either, because Foreman's power had to always be respected, and he didn't want to get caught and have a humiliation like Moorer did. So the fight was really a no win for him.

And George didn't want that fight either. So I get the feeling neither of them really wanted it.

Sanders was a middle-aged man with a beer gut when he actually made a name for himself crushing Wladimir. Knocked out in 2 by Nate Tubbs, you seriously think he could do anything to Lennox? It would be a Botha-esque blowout, regardless of the trouble he gave the the arm punching Vitali or glass-jawed Wladimir.

And Michael Moorer is a superior southpaw, as is Chris Byrd.

glass jawed Moorer was a slow starter and couldn't take real HW power, Sanders would crack him out early a la David Tua

Sanders was the hardest hitting hw southpaw ever and a criminal underachiever.

Sanders had the tools to do to Lewis what Rahman did. Lennox ducked him and so did everyone with a name not named Klitschko because he was a huge risk / low reward kind of fighter

    Moorer chinny?

Who knocked him out? Foreman and Tua, ATG punchers. Sanders was laid out for a count by one punch from Nate Tubbs.

He may knock out Lewis under the same conditions as Rahman, but what are the chances of him catching him like that?

Focused Lewis took bombs from Mercer, Bruno and Vitali and never touched the canvas.

Sanders wasn't avoided. He never knocked out anyone worth a damn. If he beat Rahman he'd have gotten his shot, but he lost, so he didn't. End of.

People didn't really duck him, he just wasn't highly regarded enough to ever be on top of a list of worthy opponents. Had he beaten anyone of note prior to beating Wlad then maybe he would have gotten a shot. The one time he stepped up against Rahman he was stopped, which goes to show the level he was at, he wasn't even good enough to KO an out of shape Rahman.

The only time he was even mentioned as a Lewis opponent to my knowledge was after Lewis fought Golota. Lewis had a short list of opponents that included Briggs, Moorer, Grant, Douglas and Sanders.

Lewis of course fought Briggs as he was the linear champion and a far more lucrative opponent than Sanders being an American. Briggs, Moorer and Grant would have all been better opponents than Sanders, Sanders was a fringe contender at best.

Sanders was also mentioned as a possible opponent for Foreman prior to Foreman facing Schultz. It just goes to show you how lowly regarded Sanders was at the time that he was deemed a safe opponent for Foreman at that stage along with the likes of Schultz, Grimsley and Savarese.

Sanders during this time wasn't even very active, averaging about one fight a year, he was already a part time boxer. Between 98 and 2002 he only had 6 fights, that's not the activity level of a top contender.

The KO loss to Tubbs really was bad, out cold against a guy who was taken 10 rounds in his next 2 fights and it's not like the next two guys were durable. The 1st guy to take Tubbs 10 rounds was coming off 4 straight TKO losses, 3 of them early and the 2nd guy was knocked out in the fight before and KO'ed in 1 the fight after Tubbs.

Basically these 2 china chinned journeymen were made to look like Oliver McCall and Ray Mercer compared to Sanders chin. Sanders chin was so bad he made Moorer look like Chuvalo.

Lennox was without doubt the best HW since Ali. But like all fighters he had one shortfall. He tended to fight to the class of his opposition. Against both McCall & Rahman he wasn't really focused , he was lacksadasical & paid the price. Proven by the rematches. Against the fighters fancied to beat him like Ruddock, Holyfield ,Grant etc he was awesome.
There was really no one out there to challenge him . He'd beaten Vitali, Wlad ran for cover & Ike Ibeabuchi was being unfairly detained.
Lennox - Ike would have been a barn burner though
All it needs now is HRH to say "ARISE SIR LENNOX "!!!!!!!!!!!
