Was Lennox not accused all the time of waiting for fighters to be past their best to fight them? That being said, some excuses people give certain fighters *cough* Mike Tyson *cough* is ridiculous

    It is an answer.

Individually I favour Lewis, but over the career he'd probably lose atleast once, I don't know who'd upset him because it would be an upset.

I was a big heavyweight boxing fan at the time and I don't remember at all Lewis being accused of ageing people out. Quite the opposite. Bowe vacated rather than take the fight. Tyson gave him step aside money. Lewis ended up fighting a lot of danger men on the periphery before eventually getting his shot against Holyfield - and continued taking on the top ranked names of his era after. That's how a career should be done.
Granted Holyfield and Tyson were not at their best at the time. But I don't recall that being Lewis's fault. More politics and King shutting him out for a while.

Yeah King was to blame for the negotiations collapsing in 97 because he demanded he be paid a guarantee to promote the fight which is unheard of. Then in 98 Holyfield himself delayed the fight happening and pushed it back to 99 despite all his demands being met. So the idea Lewis aged Holyfield out is ludicrous as he tried to make the fight 2 years earlier only for Holyfield and his promoter block the fight from happening sooner.

I think this is a fair, I do believe Lewis is the better fighter and has achieved far more as well.

It's worth pointing out that, whilst it's true Lewis was occasionally sloppy, ill prepared and ripe for an upset as a result...

The same is true for Fury - and it's arguably only luck that's kept him his zero...
Luck that didn't see him lose to McDermott, luck that didn't see him counted out in Wilder 1 (as much as I thought it was the right call, it was debatable), luck that didn't see him lose to Ngannou as well.
Three fights that really shouldn't have been debatable or controversial - where the gulf in levels should've made them formalities - but because Fury wasn't fully fit/focused/serious, they have their controversies.

I don't really see Fury still having his zero and Lewis having lost a couple being an argument for Fury having the better career.

I completely agree, and in my books Fury should have two losses anyway. One to McDermott and one to Ngannou, both far inferior to a lot of names of Lewis’s resume.

I’m off the opinion Fury would have lost 3-4 fights if he went through the same guys as Lewis based on his sloppiness and the fact he simply has not fought the same diverse range of styles that Lewis did.

I think Tyson Fury is a long way from beating the next generation champion, which Lennox Lewis did (in his farewell fight).

I guess the point (agreeing with you) I'm making is that Fury wouldn't get through his own career again without losses - such is the luck he's had avoiding them in reality.

So the odds of going through Lewis's superior resume unscathed seem to be near to zero, to me.

I agree, very much so. It's an interesting topic though as I believe either guy would be favourite against any of the guys on their respective resumes.

I think they would both move through each others resumes undefeated, or should do. In all honesty, Lennox should be undefeated really.

How he should be undefeated if he was knocked out twice? Being unfocused was his mistake only

I think the best version of Lewis and Fury would beat anyone on each others resume. However, both had a history of coming unfocused, so unexpected loss here or there could have happened

Id take Fury over the battleworn , worn down , slap hitting Holyfield who arguably went 0-3 in his next 3 fights with John Ruiz.
