But when Golota was having two WARS with Bowe (who was still perceived as the top dog in the division), Lewis had two 'non-affairs' against Huggin' Henry and Crackhead McCall. It was actually a pick'em fight by fight time. 20-20 hindsight makes this seem like an easy pick, but many were giving Golota one hell of a chance. Lewis was definitely on-point that night, and I won't take anything away from. I do kinda wish that the Golota who fought Bowe showed up, but I guess that Golota was gone forever the moment the 2nd Bowe fight ended.
How do you figure? The type of war Bowe and Golota has often ruins a fighter. I think at least an argument can be made that this was the case for both fighters. Golota was firing the jab with reckless abandon against Bowe. Against Lewis (who, contrary to popular belief, DID start the fight at a measured, cautious pace), Golota was gun-shy early. If nothing else, few would disagree that he did not attack Lewis early the way he did Bowe. Golota even backs Lewis into a corner briefly, and did not unload. He was certainly more timid, and I think that has more to do with the affects from the two Bowe wars then him simply being afraid of Lewis. But then again, in fairness, Golota had sparred with Lewis a few times prior to their contest, so it's possible that he knew something we didn't in terms of this match-up. Regardless, one thing we know for certain-Lewis kicked Golota's ass.
Wasn't he missing for hours before that fight and they practically had to drag him into the ring? He looked like a deer in the headlights. I'm not excusing the fight, but that was some shitty luck. Lewis one of the most cautious heavyweight fighters of all time comes out guns a blazin' for once to a sick looking Golota.
Bowe handled Holyfield and Golota embarrassed Bowe. Don't foget Lewis got KO'ed by the likes of Rahman and McCall. Had Golota not ****ed up it could have been a totally different outcome. **** happens.
OMG Lennox was cheap as **** against grant. 90% of his effective punches were landed while holding grants head in place with his other hand. Why the **** was this allowed? Look at the replay of the very last knockout, this fight should have been ruled a no contest, or better yet, Lewis disqualified.
That head-hold-uppercut that finished the fight was a thing of beauty. Welcome to the Big Leagues Biatch.
