Lewis was KO'd twice in 43 fights. Down how many times? Just twice from the 2 losses. He took a lot of big shots thru his career and never flinched. Shots you dont see coming are the ones you get hurt by. He didnt do so bad going down twice in 43 fights IMO. If he really had a glass chin he'd have been KO'd many more times and down in a lot of other fights. Rahman himself said that punch he KO'd Lewis with was a monster of a shot that would have KO'd anyone - it was a full on flush on the chin shot. Lewis had taken 2 opponents lightly in his career and they were the only 2 losses he suffered. The both were from big hitters. Lewis came back and avenged those losses and retired a man to beat every man he ever faced. Not as good as undefeated..but the next best thing.
I remember when he fought Rahman the first time live. I was spinning cartwheels when he got KO'ed. Lennox didnt have a glass chin. For a heavy it was average but it wasnt bone china either.
Lewis had a solid chin, he was just vulnerable to big punches he didn't see coming, like the ones from McCall & Rahman. Lewis took good punches from many big punchers, such as Bruno, Mercer & Briggs.
Post the video where McCall cries like a little ***** and runs away. Or the one where Rahmans stupid ass is almost in a coma from the best knockout ever.
I would say a bit below average. Don''t forget Lewis is the ONLY top level HW champ taken out early twice when he held the title. The only one. Not glass, but not too sturdy either.
