Give it couple of years and suddenly Lewis fans will say he had an ATG chin.

I give him props and he certainly took some big shots in his career.
But I just don’t think he had a great chin for a top heavyweight.

Above average maybe but not great.

    that's fair.

the other thing was, he almost had to be prepared to take a great shot. he didn't think rahman could touch him, so almost wasn't ready for what hit him. Ditto McCall, though I'm always of the belief that it was a daft stoppage.

Btw, a great fighter, to whoever said a great fighter gets up, is one who negates his weaknesses and imposes his strengths. if Lewis truly had a terrible chin, i think it just shows how great he was in protecting it against big punchers like VK, Tua and - to a lesser extent at that stage - tyson.

Great chin is over the top. Which ever way you look at it, he has been polaxed twice, and hurt by Briggs and arguably hurt against Mercer,Vitali.

    Not great, good enough though.

I think that video ably demonstrates he had a good chin. The glass jaw assertions are an absolute joke. I don't think those people actually watched his fights outside of recognising he got KO'd twice.

    Great is overused.

He didnt have a glass jaw or a china chin as some suggest he had an average chin maybe slightly above.

The shot the rock hit him with would have knocked out most heavyweights if not all:bbb

I know. No matter what they do, however, they will not be able to erase the fact that he is the only top level HW champ who was taken out early twice by second rate fighters while he held the title. The only one.

I wouldn't call Floyd Patterson a "top level" champ. Middle of the pack is more like it.

And George Foreman is hardly a second rate fighter along the lines of mediocrities like McCall or Rahman.

Do you consider Jones jr to have a glass chin?

He had a good chin. McCall and Rahman are both big punchers and landed a clean knockout blow. But Vitali, Tyson, Mercer, Tua, Grant and others are all great puncher and it's not they haven't landed a single power punch. Lewis' record speaks for itself.

Not world class chin, but pretty good.
