Lennox Lewis: "Haye Deserves His Shot At Vitali"

So lets say Lewis, at age 39, were to fight and beat Vitali Klitschko. Does he then get any credit for his legacy from Eastern European fight fans? Somehow I doubt it. Its a lose lose proposition. If Lewis retires, hes ducking Vitali. If He fights him and loses, well, he lost.

The difference being that Lewis did fight and beat Vitali - Vitali has never beaten Haye in any circumstances.
But Lewis is critisized for not beating him twice...

Sadly, not one of these guys are anywhere close to Haye in terms of marketing, and falls behind in h2h abilities as well. (Perceived)



That being said, we should give Haye a LITTLE credit for koing Chisora. I mean, if you look at this from a POV right after the Vitali-Chisora fight, that was a dangerous fight for Haye to take.

I disagree totally. If, after that rock 'em sock 'em affair Lewis had with Vitali, if Lewis had granted the promised rematch and came in in great shape and beat the **** out of Vitali, there would be nothing bad anyone could say about it. Lewis would go off into the sunset as an all-time great with no arguments, nothing left on the table. That would have been an awesome way to end his career, and a great pay day to boot. Obviously, Lewis didnt feel the risk was worth it, or something. Instead he always just chose to pretend that Vitali wasnt **** anyway. Im sure you would much prefer if Lewis had granted the rematch and had beated Vitali clearly before retiring.

True, I do give Haye credit for fighting Chisora, fighting like a man, and scoring an impressive KO. That being said, beating Audley Harrison, fighting scared and losing to Wlad, and KOing a Klitschko left over in a 3 year span doesnt really scream "Must see title shot for this guy!!!!", ya know?
