I assume he would lace him to get out of a tough fight, isnt that obvious?

I don't know why everyone is debating such a easy issue to solve.

1- Cut did effect the fight. Truth

2- Lewis was old and inactive Truth.

3- Vitali was close to Prime Truth.

4- Lewis avoided a rematch Truth.

5- If the fight had gone on, Lewis would have to be the heavy favorite because of the cut .Truth

6- Prime Lewis is definitely a favorite over Prime Vitali. Truth

7 Vitali is a good champion/very good champion.

Lewis is still bitter about Vitali chasing him out of boxing.

So you're saying Vits promised his fans he'd get his title back, but he didn't mean a Byrd rematch? I'm not buying that for a second. And it was Vitaly's obligation to go after Byrd for the rematch. Byrd won, he didn't need to chase Vits.

As far as Lennox goes, he didn't lie, he changed his mind. Lying would be signing a contract and backing out. I would have loved to see a rematch, but I won't begrudge any man who retires on top and stays retired. Lewis should be respected for that, not ridiculed.

Yeah the site of all that blood scared the hell out of him. He figured if they fought again he'd kill him and didn't want that on his conscience. True story! :good

Good post. Hard to argue many of those points. That being said, Lewis always torched big guys right out of the ring, so I do think Vitali deserves a lot of credit for being ahead in the fight when every other big guy Lewis fought got run the **** over for some reason :thumbsup

So lets say Vitali, at age 42, were to fight and beat David Haye. Does he then get any credit for his legacy from British fight fans? Somehow I doubt it. Its a lose lose proposition. If Vitali retires, hes ducking Haye. If He fights him and loses, well, he lost. If he fights him and wins, he beat up a blown up cruiser weight who his brother already humiliated and was all talk anyway.

This is the thing, Vits does deserve credit. He fought a good fight and showed great heart.
He would probably get more if the nuthuggers didn't make excuses or try to rewrite history.

Good post there.. We will leave that one alone because you are right.

Let's just look at the fight from a 'outside ESB' boxing world perspective? Vitali vs David Haye will be a massive pay day retirement for Vitali. That is it.

I honestly don't think Vitali hates Haye or even care about the fight in terms of legacy. But politics does cost a lot of money, and this is a huge money maker. Why not? I say go for it. David Haye is one annoying ****er though. He should be fighting Adamek,Arreloa,Povetkin,Puluv, first.

He would beat Haye if he fought him. As big of a fight as it is Haye really isn't deserving though so Vittles is in a no win situation. Contenders need to fight other contenders for champions to get any value from beating them. Jmo.

If Vitali wont fight Vlad then this should not prove that Vitali could beat fighters who lost to Vlad -For example - Just cos Vlad beat Haye doesnt mean that Haye is not the number 2 in the world - Vitali should prove himself to be number 2 by beating Haye as well.

Its getting to the stage where most figheters outside the ranked top 2 have fought better opposition than anyone the top 2 had fought - For example Chisora and Charr have been in the ring with a better fighter than anyone Vlad has faced [being Vitali] and vise versa [with the possible exception of old almost retired Lewis] .

The Klits are there own worst enemies and are seriously diluting each others legacies - if they are to be the 1 and 2 who dont fight each other they should BOTH prove themselves against allcomers not pick and choose between themselves who is to fight which style of fighter, then it becoming a given that if one brother can beat someone the other brother can too without needing to prove it.

It is a shame because when the dust settles in 10 years or so their legacies and careers will be so intertwined that neither one will get the recognition they possibly deserve -They'll be known as the boxing tag team who never fought opposition as good as the rest of the top 10 were fighting

I really feel that if Vitaly wants to give back to the sport by going out on his shield at an advanced age, he should give the opportunity to try it to someone who deserves it.Someone who is earning there way up through the ranks with their fights, not there mouth. Povetkin would be a huge money maker in mother Russia, wouldnt it? Even though Povetkin sucks donkey balls. Otherwise, I say pass the torch to David Price, Robert Helenious, Tyson Fury , Seth Mitchell...you know, active fighters who dont play all kinds of games with negotiating and pulling out and ****. Thats my thought, anyway. I dont feel that there is a bigger money fight than Haye, though. Its unfortunate. Maybe Price should get corn rows put in and start acting like a total ******* and clown all the time, that would build him some street cred...
