Lewis is playing with Vitali Lewis will stay retired. He knows that nobody can pay this. Great Champion! :happy:happy:happy
Exactly. Thank god we have a great HW champion who leaves us with great memories and is a success out of the ring instead of doing a Holyfield and flogging himself to death to pay alimony.
Both Klits should have stepped up their games around 2000 to 2002 when Lewis was still on top of the era. But they chose to fight against nobodies and strategically waited for Lewis to show signs of slowing down.. Same thing being done by Dimitrenko..fighting journeymen after another and waiting for the Klits to get old...5 years from now, he will be calling out Vitali to unretire..atsch
I wondered where the Klits were then, too, but their absense wasn't by design. It was poor management. The Russians weren't takin seriously then. A 2000 Vitali was definitly a fearless competitor and a real threat to Lewis.:deal
I have seen Wlad fight as early as 1999 against Schulz. He looked unbeatable. Then seen him against Barret and Byrd in 2000. At that time I was hoping he and Golota would somehow meet to decide who is the best European HW. By 2001/2002 Wlad IMO was ready for the big scene, against no less thatn the undisputed HW Lennox Lewis himself. But he waited too long and took too many chances with journeymen, and one of them caught him off guard.
Lewis regurarly cut opponents with his punches, he did it in his last three fights. People overplay the luck card, he was also in much better shape and more in control at the time of the stoppage. Vitaly is less cut prone than Wlad, but obviously Lewis has the pop and precision to open him up again < would not strategise on it, as the cut on the eyelid was pretty severe >.
