Lewis was so super consistent because the featherfisted Mccall
destroyed him in the second round.(And this prime featherfisted Mccall couldn't knock out a 45 years old Holmes.)
Lewis's glass chin was consistent only.

Im glad someone else noticed this.

Everytime Holyfield lost, he always pulled out the health problem checklist.

Whose the best guy Lewis beat if you nit pick at it?

    Tyson?
The same Tyson was beaten by Danny Williams and McBride.

    Holyfield?
The same Holyfield was beaten and dropped by Ruiz. The best Holyfield was beaten more impressively by Bowe.

    Rahman?
Had already been beaten by Tua and Maskaev. Knocked Lewis out.

    Golota?
Suffer'd a meltdown pre fight and was doped up entering the ring.

    Briggs?
Already been beaten by Darnell Wilson.
Here's the kicker- Wilson was never buzzed by Briggs like Lewis was despite Briggs landing many flush shots. He almost took Briggs out in the first unlike the Lewis fight where Briggs came close to taking Lewis out in the first.
Wilson dispatched Briggs more impressively in the 3rd with one shot. Briggs kept getting back up against Lewis before it was waved off in the 5th.

So who really is the best guy he beat?

Obviously Holyfield and Vitali, his 2 best wins.

Yes I know Holy was well past his prime, but he wasn't as shot as Tyson despite being older at the time of Lewis fights.

His best win was TKO 8 over Julius Francis. That says it all.

He was the HW Loma and Usack of the 90's. Very good boxer.

He'd be a champ in todays era. No doubt.

I come from the school that a good fighter makes his own luck and there's no such think as a "lucky" punch.

The McCall stoppage was BS. Lewis beat the count and was on his feet. Many other heavyweight champs were hurt just as bad or worse and allowed to continue.

Some people aren't satisfied unless the fighter is stretcher'd outta the ring.

A fighter deserves a fair chance before being waved off, no? Compare it to Holmes staggering across the ring after Snipes put him down.

But Holmes wasn't wobbly legged nearing the count of 10 like Lewis was.
Lewis was fit to stand but not fit to box. Ref saved him from another put down.

Do not see how you can doubt him. Hes the one who has been in the ring with them. Its a lot different in there than it looks on the outside.

Not wobbly legged? He nearly KO'd himself on the ring post... If the McCall ref thought Lewis was wobbly then he waves that one off without hesitation.

We don't know the ref saved him from anything. Lewis might also have survived like he did in other fights where he was hurt. McCall was hardly a deadly finisher. It was early in the fight, he was on his feet with his gloves up and had enough of his wits to protest right away.

Not the controversy of the century but I thought the stoppage was weak, even for the era. I saw Bowe and Holyfield allowed to continue in a worse state.

And seconds later he was bouncing up and down ready to clock back in.

Lewis fell into the ref's arms. He looked into his eyes and saw that he wasn't there.
