I have him at #5, but as others have mentioned, I don't think he's a lock for Top 5. But I do believe he's a lock for Top 10.

Just curious who is in your top 5?

He got caught by a 6'3 238lb RANKED contender who can bench press over 500lb. This loss was avenged in devastating fashion. How many of the former heavyweight champions could Hasim Rahman catch on a bad night? How many of the 170-200lb heavyweight champions we've had would be able to stand up to Rahman's size strength and power?

I have him #3 and he is for me a lock for the top 10.

Once you get past Ali and Louis you can actually put up good arguments against any of the others being a complete lock for the top 5. There's Ali and Louis and then the rest. The rest can be reasonably juggled and there's a few that you could twist toward the 5.

List is most likely like. In no order. 6 because I can’t be bothered doing 5.

    Joe Louis
    Larry Holmes
    Lennox Lewis
    Wlad Klitschko
    Muhammad Ali
    Evander Holyfield

    Interesting in a different way.

I can see what you're saying, but the fact remains Rahman was at best a second rater. His resume speaks for itself, compare him to Holyfield, Tyson, even Bowe...

Lewis was still a little green then, and I'm not sure I'd quite agree that McCall was a 2nd rater at that time. McCall was working with Emanuel at that time, and Emanuel was able to formulate a plan that exploited some of Lennox's weaknesses, not entirely unlike what Schmeling did to Louis.

Yeah, I agree that McCall wasn't on the level of Holy, Tyson, or Bowe. But Lewis was still a few years away from becoming a more polished prizefighter. Would have been interesting seeing how Lewis' career panned out if he had teamed up with Steward when he turned pro (which almost came together).

I have him at #3, and could go as low as #4.

Please go look at the tape of the first "stoppage." Lewis was up at 4 or 6, bell rung but ready to go, and the the announcing crew exploded into disbelief, along with the audience, and me, who was watching on HBO.

It was one of the least legitimate stoppages ever, and yeah, it was almost certainly a result of some kind of chicanery.

To me, Lewis was stopped once, and that was a no contest.

Lewis stumbled into the referee, that's the main reason it was stopped. I don't think stumbling into a referee warrants a fight continuing.

Looked legitimate to me, though I suppose the ref could have been more thorough. Lewis still looked out of it.

He mistepped but he did not stumble into the ref. Everyone who watched live was shocked.

I have never seen such a naked scewjob. Lewis was wobbly but was up early and wanted to continue.
