The McCall loss was a BS stoppage he got up ok to continue.

They just wanted the Lewis threat out of the way.

 LL beat HOLY and MIKE and scared BOWE off ! LL also starched GOLOTA who wiped his ass with BOWE ! And to top it off he defeated all the other big punchers of his era like TUA ( who MIKE and EVANDER wouldnt fight ) BRUNO and RUDDUCK who HOLY and BOWE didnt fight and GRANT ( remember him he beat GOLTA who beat up BOWE and was considered the next big thing ) and ended his CARREER by beating a bigger and better opponent then HOLY or BOWE or EVADER ever beat ! Top it al of with the fact that he still speaks well and has all his money and this argument becomes rediculous ! LL is top dog of his era and could be contending for THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME ! :deal

Of course they are, but avenging the defeats is a huge plus mark too.

Getting outboxed by the likes of Moorer, Bowe, Ruiz and Toney (and I don't give a **** how old Holyfield was - Lewis could come out of retirement tomorrow and decapitate Toney) are far bigger black marks than Lewis's losses.

Don't get me wrong, buddy. I don't have any problem giving Lewis respect for the wins that he did have. I just don't think that they were the best guys in the division, and the fights that everyone really wanted to see. The Tua fight was a great exhibition of what a motivated Lewis could do to a Top contender. So was his fight against Ruddock who I believe to have been overrated though. I am just stating that during his earlier days, the guys who were the top dogs in his weight class he didn't fight. Then, in his later years as he was The Champion in the division, he also didn't fight the best guys that people really wanted him to fight. He has Wladimir Klitschko out there for years and never took that fight, then it was too late after Wladimir fell to Sanders. He didn't fight Byrd, he gave up two titles avoiding fights, and then ultimately gave up his WBC title and retired after he couldn't secure a rematch with Tyson and was forced to rematch V. Klitschko. The fight against Vitali was slapped together 2 weeks before the fight occured due to that being the only opponent that HBO and the Promoters would allow to be subbed in that position. Lewis was ready to make a non-title fight against Kirk Johnson instead. It was just sad and pointless that he was wasting his career with fights like that when there were much more interesting fights out there. Dropping titles to avoid a fight with Byrd, but a fight that is so bad it wouldn't even be sanctioned by the WBC is worthwhile?

He was certainly not given as long to recover as he should have. That was a bull**** stoppage with a biased (and probably bribed) referee.

I don't get why Zakman thinks Moorer is all that much better than Rahman at heavyweight, particularly on achievement. P4P Moorer is a better fighter, but really outside of their respective victories over ATGs neither did anything at heavyweight that put one head and shoulders above the other :huh.

If this doesn't show how over-rated Lewis is by some boxing fans today, I don't know what will.:lol:

Delusional to say the least. Lewis isn't even the best of the era, let alone all time!!:patsch

I could play childish games and say that Valuev could have retired before he fought Chagaev and gone down as one of the best heavyweights in history by your logic as well. A Champion who not only beat every man that he faced, but was also never defeated, right? The point is that losses aren't as big of a deal when you are always fighting the best. However, there is a big difference between Evander Holyfield and Ross Purrity, wouldn't you say? Not only just about resume, but maybe the fact that he was a Champion several times, and that he also beat the best in his era.

I couldn't agree more with you.

And despite the outcry that will happen here, I have believed truly, that Holy has always always been steered away from punchers with OK chins. (when they are aged under 40!)

Holy had to butt his way to beat Rahman too.

Lewis pimped Rahman In the rematch with a 4th round Ko knocking him onto the DK Crown.:D

:D I totally agree ! Now when I mention that some other fighters getting f--ked around by KING and the fights being smelly I suspect you will agree ! Espesally when there was even more at risk when KLIT fought BREW ! :deal and THE GERMAN was also there ?:bbb
