Well, I think it's open to debate. I wouldn't insist one way or the other. Both were great heavyweights.
thanks Doppleganger for taking the time and laying that. but if you have tunnell vision like some people you only can see what you choose to.
I agree he was a great heavyweight, but I don't think he's as good as Lewis. And I do think that certain opponents of his, such as Moorer and Bowe, are grossly overrated just because they beat Holyfield considering they did nothing else remarkable in their entire heavyweight careers. To me if someone's "greatness" or the length of their accomplishment is based entirely on their performance against one single opponent, then they're probably overrated and this is the case with Bowe and Moorer
Lewis is not over rated, sure he took fights with Holyfield and Tyson past their better years but that was not his fault, circumstances in the early and mid 90's prevented those fights from happening then nobody ducked nobody well okay Tyson ducked Lewis to fight Evander but in the end they did end up fighting. Hell if Lewis was over rated then he shouldnt have been able to beat Klitschko
Excuses, excuses. The bottom line is that Lewis didn't face Tyson and Holyfield until they were past their sell date, and he didn't face Bowe at all. That external circumstances prevented the bouts from happened when they "should" have doesn't change this fact. I'll give you some credit though - at least you don't try to blame it on the other guys, like many in the Lewis Fanclub.
Name a HW that has faced and beat better opposition then Lennox Lewis in the last 20 years Zakman. :huh :-(
He's a great fighter who was underrated all his career, he deserves to be overrated even though I don't think he is being overrated, he is rated right where he belongs/deserves.
What points do you need?, want me to post Lennox Lewis' entire career for you?, want me to give you a round by round of all his fights? I'm not here to educate the likes of you, it's either you get the point yourself or google is your friend if you can't afford any other source. atsch
Good to see you here again. :good I was a total Lewis hater throughout his whole career. Didn't care for his demeanor or arrogance. LOVED it when he was KO'd by McCall :happy and Rahman. But he beat every guy he faced (Whether you think the McCall rematch was legit or not wasn't Lewis' fault...he did his job), and aside from those two fights, was never dominated and faced the heavy hitters of his generation. I grew resprect for Lewis. Especially when you look at what he have today. And NOTHING looks good on the horizon either. He might be the last of the greats for a long time.
