I can't believe this thread got bumped...

Lewis is quite clearly superior to Hollyfield and I see clear water between him and Tyson too. Hollyfield should be regarded much higher pound for pound though.

He beat Holyfield when Holy was at a career-high rating in Ring Magazine and by general consensus.

If Lennox is overrated, how overrated must Holyfield be!?!?!

That is the only great fighter that Lewis fought in their prime was Holyfield and all though he won both those fight, imo, he just didn't have any comp after that to qualify him as a ATG, in my view.

Lewis's comp was not good enough to quailfy him as an ATG...:huh

Is Tyson an ATG and why?

Is Holmes an ATG and why?

Is Louis an ATG and why?

Is Dempsey an ATG and why?

I would favor Prime Lewis over any heavyweight in history except for Ali and Foreman in a head to head match up.

Trying to read Holyfield nuthuggers distinguish their fighter as the best is disturbing.

Holyfield was the second best fighter of his era...and that is a great accomplishment.

Oh, come on D, you can do better than that!

No defenses of Lewis?? Where are all the excuses for why he's the ONLY top level HW champ knocked out early by second-raters when he had the title? How bout the usual "ducking" excuses for why he never faced Holyfield, Tyson until they were used up, or fought Bowe at all?? No tired old "Chicken Bowe" propaganda??

Holyfield's the best of the era, and grossly underrated by fans today. He fought the top guys when it mattered, and never got KTFO early when HE held the title. Hell, he was never taken out early by ANYONE. And the when he was stopped, even when past it, it took top notch fighter many rounds to do it.

Lewis is extremely overrated. Didn't fight the great fighters of the era until they were WAY past it, and was taken out multiple times by ordinary fighters.

Those are the facts. Deal with them!:deal

only jokers say he was overrated. He beat VK imo, fuk would Vitali have been able to carry on in that ridiculouse state! Holyfield is way more overated than lennox, he was just bigged up in america as some kind of warrior! Americans always try and pick a good guy to ' follow' and 'believe in', he looked like a mug though when he got his pal Don to pay those two judges off though!

Holy was 0-1-1 against Lennox, should have been 0-2.

Those are the facts. Deal with them!:deal

When his mind was on the task he was a great fighter and is tough Head to Head matchup with the alltime greats, No if's, and's, or buts. A lot of ATG's have been KTFO, Duran being the first that comes to mind. + Duran quit in the ring against Leonard. Additionally, do you think Duran would have avenged his loss to Hearns had they fought again?

How bout Jack Johnson (Ko'd by Choynski), Dempsey (KO'd early in his career), Joe Louis (KO'd by Schmelling & Marciano), Patterson (KO'd by Thor) then beat him 2wice, Frazier (Ko'd by Foreman) then had 2 great fights with Ali, Norton (KO'd by Foreman) then became champ and as an old man took Holmes to the brink..............

By the way, Bowe Ducked Lewis
