It was impossible for Lennox to fight Holyfield or Tyson any sooner than he did BOTH ducked him Tyson even paid Lennox $4 mil to step aside and let him fight seldon Bowe was scared chitless of Lennox
This is the argument that really really pisses me off. There is nothing post prison that proves Tyson was still dangerous when he fought Holy. Nothing. He had years of prison. Then a total of EIGHT rounds against: Peter McNeeley A petrified Bruno. With a detached retina, who clearly didn't want to be there. Seldon. Are you serious? A fight that has been talked about as being fixed, and one of the worst fights I've ever seen. Buster Mathis Jr. 'Nuff said. There is nothing there to prove he's still dangerous nothing. As his fights after Holy would show, struggling to beat Nielson etc. Hey, I give Lewis **** all credit for beating Tyson, that fight was about money really. Tyson refused to fight Lewis until he was broke and HAD to, surely that should tell you something? Lewis was 37 when he faced Vitlay as well, and looked like **** too. Still found a way to win. So Holy beats a "still dangerous" Tyson, then not much later is shot to ****? So either Tyson wasn't as dangerous as everybody thought, and credits him with, or Holy got old overnight. But still managed to fight for what, another 7 or 8 years?
That was part of a series where the winner of Lewis-Rudock was to fight the winner of Holy-Bowe. Then Bowe backed out of the deal and ducked him. He blew the favoured Ruddock away in 2 rounds. Ruddock had gone the distance with Tyson just over a year earlier. And how exactly is that Lennox's fault? Beating his ass? Bruno was doing a lot better than expected, but it was a majority draw at the time of the stoppage. :-(( :think :huh All I know is that Tyson DID avoid Lennox like the plague, even paying Lennox a few million to NOT fight him. Your username suits you. You're a nut. :silly :nut
I wonder what Holyfield fans would say it he lost his title by a razor thin majority decision when he was having a good round but some lunatic interrupted the proceedings by crashing down on the ring. And then his pregnant wife (with Holyfield's 452nd kid) had to be carried out of the arena on a stretcher. Then Holyfield lost the round on all 3 cards after the delay, and lost the fight by 1 and 2 pts on the official cards. I also wonder what they would say if Riddick Bowe or Lennox Lewis was the subject of a steroid investigation, whom the doctors in the Nevada State Athletic Commission said had very consistent symptoms of steroid use, and if this guy said "I never used steroids, but I heard Evander Holyfield used steroids. I'm not a cheater so I didn't use them like I heard Holyfield used them".
Ugh...I still can't believe Holyfield pulled that **** with "I don't use steroids but I heard Tyson does." Even for a headbutting hypocrite that can't keep his dick in his pants, that was low. In the ring, no question I also have serious man love for Holyfield. The man could move mountains. Out of it, no thank you...that 'humble man of God' image never convinced me, and over the years its been very interesting to watch the scales fall from people's eyes about that.
LL was underated. Beat Holyfield, Tyson, Vitali, Tua and Bowe (in the Olympics). Top-10 heavyweight of all time IMO. H2H LL would be first as his size is too much for even a prime Ali, Marciano, Dempsey or Louis.
Yes Holy had been through more wars but Tyson had stopped training, had years of ring rust, in his comeback only fought scrubs and a terrified Bruno, and was seven years away from his peak (just like Holy). Holyfield was number 1 in ring magazine going into the fight. Its you whose :nut
At the end of 1995, Holyfield was #5. I don't think his performance against Czyz bumped him up 4 spots. Tyson was certainly being overrated at the time, probably because of people's hope that he would unify the HW titles and bring a lot of attention back to boxing and rule the division again. But Holyfield still deserves credit for it. He scored a big upset over a guy who had recently defeated 2 title-holders, and Tyson was a better fighter in 1996 than in 2002 when he fought Lewis. http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine%27s_Annual_Ratings:_Heavyweight--1990s
I was referring to Holyfield going into the Lewis fight. Yes, I give Holyfield much more credit than I give Lewis for beating Tyson. I just was making a comparison between the Tyson Holyfield faced, and the Holyfield Lewis faced. Zakman has a clear double standard here, trying to make it seem like the Lewis wins shouldn't count but the Tyson wins should.
