He ushered in the giant super heavyweight era in which he was bigger than the vast majority of his opponents. He wouldn't have such advantages today.
When Lewis fought Vitali he beat him by a 6th round stoppage,it wasn’t a controversial win,Vitali was not going to hear the final bell to take it to the score cards anyway so I never understand when people say that Lewis owed him a rematch. So if Lewis owed Vitali a rematch then did he also owe Bruno a rematch from 10 year earlier ? If Lewis owed anybody a rematch it was Mercer imo .
How is it a duck when you retire? It’s a duck when you retire multiple times and then come back like Fury but Lewis has never fought again. The fact is an Old out of shape Lewis beat Vitali at his best, just because he lost a few rounds earlier in the fight is irrelevant. The referee saved the rest of Vitalis career that night.
He's a fat, slow plodder who would be incredibly undersized in the modern day. He has a great legacy and is one of the greatest (say, fourth) HWs of all time, but he is not the H2H monster so many portray him as. He's small and unskilled compared to a modern contender like Zhilei Zhang. Imagine him vs Usyk or Tyson Fury. What could he even do vs Fury? Nothing. Fury could keep him on the outside and Lennox would just plod forward taking jab after jab. He doesn't even have foot speed like Wladimir Klitschko to balance out his size disadvantage and plodding vs a large opponent. I'm certain people will reply describing him as a super-sized Mike Tysonesque monster who would bob and weave Fury into a second round KO , but in reality he was a fat, slow plodder who fought people who were small enough for him to get away with fighting like a big man. He was great for a big guy who fought small guys. He's one of the best for his time ever. The best in a raw, absolute sense? Not even close.
He avenged all his losses. Foreman, Holmes, Frazier, Tyson and others didnt make it. I have him 4th ever behind Ali, Marciano and Louis.
Hahaha I’ve seen some mental posts, but this might be the best. Have a nice night you deserve it, you’ve made mine.
Someone else already said the truth much earlier in this thread. There is no ATG Heavyweight, as each boxer has his own kryptonite, whether it be another boxer's style or his own personal demons.
The irony to your post is that those very two things you described are what classifies someone as an ATG to begin with. Being able to overcome an opponents style and/or defeating your own demons while still proving your amongst the best at what you do = ATG material.
