Its emperors clothing with Ali, and yes its worn thin because its always been ott..Time will balance it out and like you say, it has with most
He certainly had the tools to be considered to beat anyone...except perhaps a 100% lack of concentration at times. Perhaps he thought too much for his own good at times.
The only heavyweight I'd PICK against Lewis is Sonny Liston, his jab would cause real issue and would look like the Mercer fight, but with a Rahman like ending, BUT that's the only one past or present I'd favour over him (whilst a fair few could beat him). I think h2h he's the greatest heavyweight ever
Why is AJ even mentioned here, he hasn't proven his power against a better chin than Lewis yet, and Lewis threw a nicer, tighter uppercut than AJ, and until he drops an top 5 hw with a good chin he isn't in that bracket. Lewis' jab is leagues above AJs in just how he utilized it, and it's style was more useful
being ahead on the scorecards winning most of the rounds (in a fight he took on 2 weeks notice) and being stopped because of a CUT isn't a legitimate loss
Well he still lost, A cut is a legitimate loss, and Lewis took the fight on short notice as well. With his age as well, over 6 rounds Lewis won two, in another 6 he could've won them all and would've if Vitali's eye kept bleeding. Vitali lost to the two best HWs he fought.
