Maybe not that bad, but agree Lewis is significantly more gifted and skilled than AJ.

Mercer could beat Liston imo, Mercer prime is in with a shout with most..If he can hang tough with Lewis and make it a discussion on who won, then Ali Frazier liston etc all the popular fighters that people rate no1 have a serious task in front of them, tough man

Lewis looked a bit sluggish just like the man who walks this earth like a god does.

Both good timing but Lewis was more skilled.

I seriously doubt Mercer could beat Liston, who had a reach advantage a definite strength and Power advantage and was a better boxer. I really can't see how he wins unless he gets a KO which he could be caught going. But I agree he's no walk in the park for anyone

You do know Lewis had all the advantages to don't you ?? Against Mercer. And Lewis is a bigger stronger faster man than Liston...I think you have a hard on for Sonny and letting your heart rule ya head

It wasn't so much hitting the deck with him, it was more he was rooted to the canvas and couldn't do anything when hurt. Ive never come across a fighter that lost all instincts instantly when hurt but was a **** to put down, repeatedly !

No, I'm picking the proven Champion, with much more significant skills, over the one dimensional contender who lost every meaningful fight he was in

Yes but the change of opponent was from Kirk Johnson (borderline contender) to Vitali Klitschko (ATG) it was also a change of opponent for Klitschko, who was on the undercard that night

I understand that but this glass jaw fallacy is not true, he took big shots from some of the best and kept coming. Stamina is what got him in trouble all but the 2nd Tyson fight.
He only lost to fighters who were or became Heavyweight World Champions and was ahead on points against all but Tyson.

to be fair the two you have in mind he lost to, became world champions BECAUSE he lost to him.
