What gets him in trouble is whats similar to Price now, nerves. Bruno expended far more energy with his nerves because he wasn't a natural fighter mentally, I do think Price had a worse chin but there is a connection !

Prime Floyd Patterson is a light heavy lol and he was terrified
Cleveland is a good win, but i'd pick Mercer to beat him also !...I could pick like you have against every fighter who ever lived and pull up fights they have had where it seems a stretch calling them great or very good...Its opinions...BUT, I don't think ive come across anyone rating Liston no1 ever, I think that in itself tells you a little bit

Nothing "articulate" about this thread, it is rather obtuse actually. Also there is a word for the original poster.. it starts with A ,and ends with R.

It is a legitimate loss because the cut was caused by Lewis punch smh. You talk like vitali was pinching a shut out before the doctor stop the fight smh. Lewis was landing the harder shots in that fight and was hurting vitali. Did vitali hurt Lewis in the 2nd round? Yes but in the last 4 rounds? Lewis was mostly hurting vitali.

This thread is a PRIME example of how ridiculously overrated Lewis is by some. Lewis isn't even the greatest HW of his own era, let alone of all time. As the ONLY top level ATG to get starched TWICE by second tier contenders in the early rounds of a title fight, this shows just how well he'd stand up against the real GOAT contenders such as Ali and Louis, both of whom are not only better fighters, but far more accomplished.

Lewis also LOST to Ray Mercer in a close fight but received some kind treatment from the judges, and faced the other top HWs of his era, Tyson and Holyfield when they were WELL past their primes. And of course, he didn't face Riddick Bowe at all in the pros. For all these reasons and more, he puts the "O" in overrated, as this thread well demonstrates.

Holyfield would've still lost to Lewis if he was in his prime. Holyfield always had problems vs fighters that were taller than him in which he barely got by Holmes. He barely got by a decline old foreman. And holyfield is 1 out of the 3 fights vs a bigger Bowe. The same ruddick Bowe who was scared to put the title on the line vs Lewis. Tyson was also scared to fight Lewis in 96.

He was KO'd twice by single shots in his prime and that hurts a lot. Great fighter though.

If you think Lewis was in his prime when he was ko by Rahman? You should watch other sports.

I rate Lewis, but a Holyfield who was 8 years past his peak, still gave Lewis two very tough fights. I’d argue that the Holyfield from Bowe 1 & 2 beats Lewis convincingly

Of course he was in his prime. You just looked at BoxRec and see that it was toward the end of his career so you automatically assume he wasn't prime. Shows what you know. Lennox didn't hang around, he retired as soon as he started slipping.

As others have said, Lewis barely got by a severely diminished Holyfield. Some thought he had lost their second fight, but got some love on the scorecards because of the unjustified draw in the first fight.

Prime Holyfield starches Lewis just like he did Buster Douglas.

Who ever give holyfield 7 rounds at least vs Lewis in the rematch should stop watching boxing. The rematch was alot closer then the first fight but no way in hell holyfield won 7 rounds. Lewis was 34 years old past his prime when he fought a 37 year old holyfield in the rematch incase you don't know. A prime holyfield with hair barely got by a decline foreman for crying out loud in which what makes you think any version of holyfield can beat Lewis? Smh. I'll say this a version of Lewis that ko golata in the first round? Easily beat any version of holyfield case close.

Yet Lewis refused to fight Klitschko in a rematch despite huge big money offers
