There is a big difference between getting knocked down and knocked out. You can get knocked down in every fight of your career and win them all, or score a knockdown in every fight of your career and loose them all.
in my opinion marciano never had iron chin, good chin but not iron chin..., i think that it was more his power to recover and his heart. but still marciano never was knocked out , lewis was ko by rahman or mccall, not even top 30 hardest punchers.and lennox lewis never had iron chin,he had a big heart, good defence and skill, but his chin was not better than louis´s chin. please get real ....:tired
Lennox's chin was very solid to withstanding tremendous impacts when he could see the punch coming & brace himself for impact... Hence Tyson has a significantly greater chance of landing a KO-punch than Foreman, because of his "make 'em miss, make 'em pay" style of slipping punches with super-elusive headmovement & countering with supersonic timed nukes.
you can see on film how good and tricky he was... he defintiely was good and better then rahman and McCall. he may have lost a lot but the conditions were much different for fighting back then a lot of these losses weren't filmed so we don't know why or why not he lost.
I care about effective not fancy. I think a lot of his shucking and dancing was pointless, led to defensive lapses rather and overall inconsistent performances. Pundits seem overly-impressed with those steps.
Don't know for sure if he would or not, and neither do you, but you're correct in saying he belongs in the mix of fighters who could potentially beat Lewis.
Lewis has a top chin, maybe not iron but definatley not a chin where you can pick big punchers over him. Circumstances mean everything and although not excuses for greatness they must be looked at when considering H2H ability. Foreman got KOed by Ali , McCall and Rahman have harder one punch power than Ali. Yet Foreman has an iron chin because of the circumstance. I think the video posted shows Lewis can take on helluva bomb but because he was KOed it is fair to say the chin is not iron. Against McCall i think he should have been allowd to fight on he dosent seem wobbly when he gets up he seems ready to fight but at the end of the day he did get caught and thats just the way she blows. The Rahman fight Lewis has no excuses i dont think he trained properly which is his fault and why the **** he was fancying around with that chin out i do not know. My point with those two fights is if we are taking a peak Lewis then we have to assume he has trained , its somewhat unfair that these two punches change a whole view point on him. With the whole Foreman would beat him thing. I do not see how , for one punch power and ability to deliver it Lewis wins hands down IMO. Even without that Lewis is all wrong for Foreman he is bigger , stronger and has a better jab. The two times Lewis was KOed were because he could not see the punch coming , Foremans wide wild blows would be easy for Lewis to avoid or prepare for. I see Lewis throwing streights and jabs down the middle totally opening Foreman to pieces.
BTW i do not think Lewis has an iron chin. He can take a punch though, moreso than he is given credit for. I also believe he's overrated, picking up the pieces of a lot of fighters and looking good doing it. Kind of like rocky, actually.
Lewis is a great fighter who has the kind of legacy that has incredible range on top 10 lists. His head to head ability as a fighter is remarkable. His size, power and ring smarts make for a compelling case against anyone in history.
I like this post, to me Lewis is a nightmare match-up for Foreman. *Awaits Foreman Gancho's wrath...*
what a fan boy lewis stronger than foreman? you put foreman in the place of bruno, and lewis get destroyed, simple :rofl:hi:
Well for what it's worth, the Ring magazine thinks pretty much the same thing. They picked Lewis over Foreman in a mythical match up and they also felt Lewis was stronger than Foreman. For what it's worth, I too think Lewis is physically stronger than Foreman, not all that surprising considering they are both elite athletes with Lewis clearly being the bigger guy. That said, I do think Foreman has more one punch power than Lewis, but he's certainly not at the same level when it comes to boxing ability.
yeah, i read that ring issue and strength is the one thing i disagreed with. for me, the fact that mercer was able to boss him around the ring doesn't speak highly for his physical power. he LOOKS the part and his punching power is tremendous but he just isn't as strong as foreman
Thats a very green Lewis. I am talking prime Lewis under Manny. I think its accepted these days by most that Lewis is stronger that Foreman.
