I have said this a lot before but that Mercer fight is baptism by fire for Lewis the fight were he turns into a man it makes him grow as a fighter. Lewis is an awkward one because he dosent have long past prime but in fairness H2H is prime for prime so i dont think that fight is important to look at in a H2H match up.

i would disagree that it's not important. i very much agree that it's when he became a "man" but the fact that it came immediately after his career best performance (imo) makes it relevant. lewis was at his absolute peak and was taken to the trenches: he came out the winner but looked like **** in the process and i think it highlighted a weakness or two with lewis. mainly if he couldn't control a fight, he was not NEARLY as effective

mercer took him out of his element with physical strength, in fighting, trench warfare and (amazingly!) a better jab. the weaknesses found in that fight were not exposed consistently by anyone else so that weren't an issue (with the possible exception of rahman who turned the first fight into a sloppy brawl)

1_ foreman fought in the 70s, lewis in the 90s, lewis had more advantages in training and nutrition, well now we will check his weight and height.

2_ lewis was 6´5 foreman was 6´3 1/2. lewis was taller, foreman was more compact.

    3_ their weights

25 years old lennox lewis vs occasio. 6´5 224 pounds
25 years old lewis vs jean chanet. 6´5 224 pounds
25 years old lewis vs mike acey . 6´5 228 pounds
26 years old lewis vs mike weaver 6´5 221 pounds
26 years old lewis vs gary mason 6´5 227 pounds
27 years old lewis vs tirell biggs 6´5 230 pounds
28 years old lewis vs billuos 6´5 225 pounds
28 years old lewis vs ruddock 6´5 227 pounds
29 years old lewis vs tucker 6´5 235 pounds

23 years old foreman vs goodman 6´3 1/2 225 pounds
23 years old foreman vs boone 6´3 1/2 224 pounds
    25 years old foreman vs norton 6´3 1/2 224 3/4 pounds
27 years old foreman vs lyle 6´3 1/2 226 pounds
    27 years old foreman vs frazier 2 6´3 1/2 224 pounds
27 years old foreman vs ledoux 6´3 1/2 229 pounds
27 years old foreman vs dino denis 6´3 1/2 232 pounds
28 years old foreman vs pedro agosto 6´3 1/2 228 pounds
28 years old foreman vs jimmy young 6´3 1/2 229 pounds

3_ please. tell me how lewis was even bigger than foreman..... lewis was taller, but foreman was more compact, they weighed equal in tons of fights and even foreman was heavier in many of these fights. they fought in different eras. and still they had similar size, we never saw foreman 80-85 in his early and middle 30s. probably he would have weighed around 234-240 pounds.

4_ foreman in his come back was bigger and stronger than lewis too, he was not fat against maguila rodriguez, against qawi, rocky serosky or even cooney.

5_ george foreman was naturally stronger than lewis, if you put they both with the same nutrition and the same training, and foreman is the stronger man clearly. lewis was athletic but he was naturally more skinny, foreman had clearly a stronger and more solid structure of bones, he was more compact, lewis trained weights like a mad man past his prime, it is because he weighed 240 pounds. foreman could do it as well. and the weight is not matter, frazier was 20 pounds heavier (of natural weight) than marciano, and still tons of people think that rocky was stronger.

6_you can argue that lewis was more skilled, maybe more versatile, but george foreman was clearly the naturally stronger man, he had much better chin, more heart and he was by far harder puncher, he might well destroy lewis and early. of course lewis could win too, but to say that "lewis was stronger than foreman" it is pure crap.

in few words... you are very wrong

You have took pre prime Lewis weight and compared to prime Foreman.
Why would you take Lewis weight up until the first McCall then disregard his prime?

So... you concede that modern training is better than old school training? :D

25-29 years old pre prime? when he was hurt by bruno he was not in his prime right? when he was ko by rahman and mccall(not even top 50 hardest punchers) he was not in good shape because he did eat icecream before of the fight right? so when he lost, he was past prime or pre prime, but when he won, he was in his peak right?

kid... george foreman was stronger and harder puncher than lewis. fact
lennox lewis in his physically PRIME(his 20s) weighed 220-235 pounds. fact just like foreman . and george was from the 70s.. and lewis was taller. foreman was more compact and he did not have the advantages of the era of lewis. FOREMAN WAS NATURALLY THE STRONGER MAN.

i will not spend my time talking with a fanboy who can´t accept other thing different to lewis winning.

i never said that, i said that the modern advantages are the motive because he was heavier in his 30s. LEWIS IN HIS PEAK PHYSICALLY IN HIS 20s WEIGHED 220-235 POUNDS and he was 6´5. foreman was naturally bigger and stronger than lewis, lewis was a bit taller.period

Lewis came into his prime at 30. When are you going to get it out of your head that anything below 30 is past prime and anything above 30 is pre prime.
If this is the case a past prime Lewis was very dominant throughout the late 90s.

Too much is read into that performance. Mercer was even overweight and coming off a layoff. He was a tough trial horse for a still maturing Lewis. I personally believe the 2000 circa Lewis, would have won a more comfortable decision.

i am talking about his PRIME PHYSICALLY, the body of lewis was in his peak (WEIGHT) when he was in his middle/late 20s.his natural weight, without to train weights was 220-235 pounds, and foreman weighed 220-232. lewis was a bit taller, foreman was stronger and more compact. lewis in his 30s was crearly in overweight he was not as fast as he was in his 20s. george foreman training weights would have weighed 240 pounds as well....and you know that,he was a tank in his return when he did train weights, he weighed 257 pounds ,without the fat he would have weighed 240 pounds. plain and simple.

    Frazier?

You mean the Frazier who had been thrown around the ring like a rubber doll by Foreman. The Frazier who was knocked down something like 5 times, who looked like he was a MW fighting big George?

Lewis would absolutely annihilate prime Frazier. Decapitate him and knock him through the ropes.
