Lennox Lewis (of 1998) vs Wladimir Klitschko (of 2009)

I've thrown in my two cents on this alot, and I still see it as a toss-up fight. Long story short, each man has the tools to capitalize on the other's Achilles' heel so any ending wouldn't surprise me, even a "boring" tactical affair that went to the cards.

That said, I voted Wlad by KO to balance the poll out a bit.

If lewis will hold and hit(like he always does) and wont get DQ I guess he will win if he don't make any stupid decisions like box with wlad for example. Lewis have to brawl and make it close combat fight, but wlad still has good chance with his left hook in that scenario.

 

Lennox easily. Wladimir would survive until around halfway.

 

I agree, Lewis would turn it into a rough brawl that Wlad is unable to compete in.

Given that Wlad is still active, I think a more interesting question is: Lewis as he was perceived in 1999 vs Wlad as he was perceived in 2009.

 

On the outside, it will be battle of the jabs and right hand bombs.

But once they get close, Lewis' uppercuts would send Wlad for a long sleep.

Wlad has zero inside fighting skills. I repeat - ZERO. Nothing. Once he gets close to his opponent, the only thing that comes to his mind is to hold for dear life.

Lewis on the other hand is perhaps one of the best in HW history in terms of inside fighting (I think only Bowe was better on the inside).

lewis could fight A BIT inside,he was not a great inside fighter

 

I dont think you could use that as a comparison because the division is looked upon far worse than it was during Lewis reign. I never felt Lewis was defeating great contenders during his reign, but I still think Wlad's era is far worse.

 

He suffers from the same weaknesses though: a weak chin and a fearful mentality. Lewis would beat him down.
