Lennox Lewis (of 1998) vs Wladimir Klitschko (of 2009)

Lewis seemed like the tougher minded of the 2 and at 1st knee-jerk reaction I would say Lewis by KO but when I render some thought to this situation, it was Lewis would was KO'd 2 times and could not recover and never did from a KD

Vlad has gotten up to lose and to win. I see Lewis having MORE of a 2-fisted aggression but this really boil down to what type of fight it becomes.

If Vlad starts out careful and uses the jab and keep his distance and holds, jabs right hands and survives the early rds perhaps hurting Lennox and this fight gets into the 8th-9th rd...remember Lennox never KO'd a man after 8rds. Vlad may at that point have the fight in his hands and hurt and stop Lennox

I give Lennox the edge at this point in time but you can not compare Vlad with Golota a man who quit several times and was Ko'd in 1 and fouled out 2 times in sure victory's.

Vlad would be the best Big man offensively that Lennox fought and also possess the best jab that Lennox has faced.

Vitali is the tougher mentally of the 2 but Vlad has the better one punch power.

Would Lennox go right in for the kill and could he without leaving himself open for counters. I seen Lennox cold flattened in 2 fights and McCall and Rahman are not in the same one punch league as Vladimir.

I see this fight as being Lennox Lewis toughest opposition and Vladimir not that easy to hit,especially in his safety first mode but that jab would be popping and an occasional well timed right hand may keep Lennox from rushing in and if the fight goes past 8 and falls into the chess match mode Lennox may find himself in a position to press to gain an edge and get caught and Flat KO'd

I still favor Lennox but time will tell and Vlad always has a punchers chance vs Lennox, one thing is if Vlad lands the same type of punches early that Vitali did vs Lewis the fight may not go too late.

Lennox may be a far better opponent than Sam Peter but I don't see him taking the right hands that Vlad landed last fight and staying vertical

Apparently, according to this guy, Lennox Lewis training 2 weeks for a fight at an altitude of 5000ft can be considered 'prime'.

The main thing for me is Wlad has little or no in fighting skills, Lewis had them in spades.
Wlad wouldn't wake up from the uppercut his brother took and with Lewis's strength inside Wlad wouldn't be able to drape himself over Lewis the way he does the guys nowdays.

Im still waiting to see Wlad get pulled into a brawl. Noone has been able to do that. Lewis would have been able to do it no problem. Wlad is not going to be able to hold Lewis how he holds other fighters. Lewis would make him fight for sure. Could Wlad land a big bomb, sure, and I think his punches as Lewis comes in are far more dangerous to Vitali's, but really once you get close to Wlad and take away his jab and right hand, there is really not much more to him. He has zero inside game and he knows it, so the mental aspect starts to take over.
I dont really understand these fighters who try to go out there and box the Klitschkos, its absolutely not possible to beat them that way. They just have such a massive advantage in skill and experience over the rest of the group, but it doesnt take the best brawler to beat them, just and educated approach on how to get close.

I pretty much agree with this assessment. At the end of the day, I think Lewis' inside fighting ability and willingness to brawl, would be the difference, cause even Lewis would have trouble out boxing Wlad. But Lewis is simply more adaptable and has a wider range of options than does Wlad.

 

i don't root for lewis but he would destory wladamir. wlad is good but still is not even in lewis' league.

Really...it would probably look like this except Wlad would have more success with the jab and he wouldn't be dumb enough to get himself dqed. I think Lennox pulls off an ugly decision as the aggressor, but doesn't land much of note.

If the fight looked like that I couldn't see it lasting 12 rounds. Lewis would have taken Akinwande apart in close if not for him holding on for dear life to the extent of being DQ'd.

Again, Wlad would probably have more success with his jab inbetween all the wrestling. I think Wlad is a strong enough clincher now that at the very least he could avoid the fate of his older brother and Grant. You have to favor Lennox but I think this has the potential to be a frustrating fight for him...I really don't see any easy blow out against the current version of Wlad.

 

Didn't you bring up Wladimir's losses before he hit his prime?

 

Because Mendoza brought up the Bruno fight, while failing to address any of the negatives on Wladimirs resume.
