By saying from the Ali school I think Lewis just meant that he is a great fighter, not that he was like Muhammad Ali.
"Manny Pacquiao's got a very good defense, he's got an underrated defense. He doesn't get hit clean with shots." [yt]z0HSOm-lIho[/yt]
hmm says... Ali school doesn't mean he has to have similar styles (although both can move) but both are great sportsmen. ie. You can say Pac is from the Armstrong School for conquering higher weights... Ali School because he's a sportsman... Duran School because he is a fighting pride of a country... Tyson School cause of his early feats as a teen and capturing a title at a young age.... Dempsey School for his high relentless offense... etc. The statement just shows recognition from a great to a great.
Pac is a great fighter and his 2 losses are not important, he always performed at the highest level and keeps improving. The only thing I would say is his opposition over the last 3 fights may have flattered him- his chin has not been tested above 130. PBFs gonna test that chin
i agree with this, but i give manny FULL credit for his win over hatton, pac said so after the fight hatton was a very strong guy, that tryed to bring it.....i think the oscar fight is a win, but nothing more.....floyd, will just box his ears off imo.
I think he means from the school of Ali, as in he's a well-rounded fighter that can adapt in the ring, and does a GREAT deal for boxing outside of the ring. Besides, this was published in Time Magazine, no? When he says "From the school of Armstrong", people will think that in his spare time, Pacquiao plays the trumpet or is cycling.
I don't quite get what Lewis is trying to say with that 1st statement... then again I don't usually get what Lennox's punchy ass is trying to say.
The other guys right pre morales 2 pac just used to throw a light rangefinder double jab and then throw all his weight behind his left straight and that is all he used to do it was still very effective but since the morales loss he has improved in every fight since ,a stiff jab ,a powerful right hook ,better head movement ,better defence ,better footwork and he has got even stronger at the higher weights considering he started at 106 its incredible but im with the theory that he hasnt been hit buy anyone over 130 properly yet diaz hardly touched him ,de la hoya managed to hit him with 2 good hooks while holding his head with his other hand and hatton hit him with maybe 1 good shot
You're misunderstanding the quote. It doesn't mean he fights like him. It means he's from the same 'school' as in he fights with his heart and doesn't duck anyone and is trying to be the BEST by fighting the BEST.
