I still haven't seen this fight. One of the few Lewis fights I've missed.

    How did Lewis perform ?

I have never seen it either. I know that doesn't contribute much to this thread, but I have always wondered how good Phil Jackson really was. I believe I saw him fight a journeyman many years ago in maybe his 10th pro fight, but that doesn't say much.

Ruddock apparently beat him fairly easily shortly before fighting Lewis.

I remember him finishing Jackson with a beautiful three or four punch combo.

One of the worst fights I've ever seen, truly. If you haven't seen it, don't pine for it or anything.

Well, I wasn't expected it to be any sort of classic. It features Lennox Lewis and no one ever talks about it, so I figured it might be a dud.

Apart from the Gary Mason and Razor Ruddock fights I dont think much of any Lennox Lewis performance pre-Tommy Morrison fight.

Yeah, he took awhile to come into his own. The Jackson fight was still in his growth phase, if one calls it that. Believe me, you're missing nothing.

He didn't do all that great, it shows how overrated Lennox power is.

If he hit as hard as everybody here seems to think he did, I doubt Phil would have been mentaly capable of leading the Bulls and Lakers on to multiple championships.

Well you know; learning phase and all. Gotta cut Lennox some slack.

The fight was pedestrian. But the combo with which Lewis finished the fight was something I've seen very, very few heavies capable of doing. I haven't seen the fight since it was broadcast but I think it was an right uppercut-left hook-right hand, all extremely fluid. And Jackson was rated and something of a commodity coming into the fight with only one loss to Ruddock.

After quitting against Rudduck Jackson showed surprising heart and determination. Jackson landed a big shot or two late in particular a big flush hook but Lewis shrugged them off and was always controlling the fight.

The finish upon fresh viewing is big right uppercut, little left hook and tight right hook of the variety Tyson used to throw. The fight was stopped right away but Jackson would have got up i'd say but Mercante i think it was had seen enough. At the exact time of this fight Lewis was trying to prove himself to a cynical American media who didn't think he had what it took. Not too bad a fight.

i have a few rounds of him vs chanet...or somthing like that. a french heavy. pretty good skills but small and cumbersome. got royally slapped. lennox used a heavy jab to just rip holes in his face then a right hand came into play and totally broke his nose.
not a nice fight but a good "vulger display of power"

What Lewis fights have you seen?. Going by your judgement, not many. You must have missed his fights with Ruddock, Golota, Briggs, Grant, Botha, and Klitschko.

A few pre-Mason, but cant remember which ones. Saw them at the time but not since, the ones broadcast on ITV here in UK, not too impressive but he was a raw kid so that's expected.

I've seen Mason, McCrory, Biggs and Weaver. I've seen the fight with Billups, but not the Derek Williams fight.

Some of these I haven't seen for years.

I remember being surprised by how good he was against Mason - I expected him to lose, or to win a close one at best.
But he looked amateurish against Biggs, and poor against Billups. The others were so-so as I remember.
