You do realise Holyfield was 36 in their first fight and 37 by the time they fought the rematch. You do realise that don't you?
A younger version of Lewis would have struggled even more. weight is more important than youth if you'r trying to out muscle your opponent in close. I think the Lewis who fought Tyson would've been the best choise, but ist's still close.
Holyfield could never beat Lewis. And Bowe was just ****en scared of Lewis. There was a time when I thought that Holy was aging Lewis. But Lewis eventually forced Holy to fight him, and you saw what happened. No version of Holy beats Lewis. Too much size. Once Lewis knew that he could rely on his jab, he became a much better fighter.
Don't fool yourself, he would never been able to out muscle Valuev as an example. Foreman of late would be a nice test, but still pick Lewis due to superior range and techniques.
This is how an amateur boxing fan thinks when he tries to talk boxing and talk about another fighter other than Pacquiao. #****enpathetic rofl
How about Zeljko Mavrovic? Have you seen Lewis at the end of that fight? He looked like he ran a bloody marathon. In the Holyfield rematch, I think the 6th round, Lewis literally went half a round without throwing a single punch! A young Holyfield would take advantage of that. Lewis simply wasn't made for fast-paced fights. Like most big heavies he needed to stay in his comfort zone behind a jab, play possum occasionally, pace himself etc. because he had trouble conserving his stamina. Holyfields relentless pressure could easily break his rhythm here, let's be serious. He beat everyone that challenged him. I don't know why you keep putting Lewis and Bowe in the same bracket. They were not similar fighters. Sure, both were big but Bowe had a completely different style. He had the chin and in-fighting skill to trouble Holyfield. Lewis has a good uppercut but he lacks the devastating hooks and overhand rights that Bowe could deliver from an inch away, in combinations too, and he sure as hell wasn't tough enough to risk trading with Holyfield. Prime Holyfield was WAY better than the version Lewis fought, in aspects that mattered anyway. It would've been a good fight, and I wouldn't be putting serious money on anyone. But it's certainly NOT a given, based on a prime Lewis beating over-the-hill Evander. Nope.
Another clueless individual who probably started watching boxing 5 years ago (if that). Bowe's style in those fights are exactly what kept Holyfield competitive. Bowe had the tools to win those fights far more easily. Holyfield wanted him to fight up close. Had Bowe kept the fight at range he could have made life far easier for himself and taken less punishment. And as for Lewis not having an overhand right... you really are a numbskull. Lewis could throw every shot in the text book with his right hand. Lewis, unlike Bowe, adapted his style to suit the opponent. This is why Lewis is an ATG and Bowe doesn't feature on anyone's Top 10 ATGs. Bowe had the ability. He just didn't use it and then ate his way out of contention.
He was a former champion yes and relatively unknown in the states in 2003... He was also known as a quitter for having quit against byrd, now if youre from Europe of course you know who the **** he is, but I ain't talking about being known in Europe, I'm talking about being known in the states.. Vitali in 2003 was the equivalent of Lemieux and Lennox was the equivalent of Ggg... sad but true
Who the hell was talking about the States? The statement made was that Vitali was "unknown". No mention was made of the States. **** the States.
grown men? drain you have the mental age of a 6year old. lewis beats holyfield like i beat you everytime you try it.
