In the 4th and 8th rounds. He hits Tyson then leans or pushes him down.

If it was just a push it must have been a pretty good one for Tyson to stay down so long.

All good experienced fighters learn tricks to help them in battle. Lewis knew that learning on Tyson would tire his man out . A guy Lewis s size pressing down on you in a fight, blimey it'll be like carrying a bag of wet cement on your back!

At one point Referee Cotton waved off a knockdown, or push rather, when Lewis pushed Tyson down. Forgot what round, I never watch this fight. It's something I wish to forget.

The outcome would have been pretty much the same. Face it, Tyson was not Tyson anymore. The 1980's were long gone. If both were in their primes, perhaps a great fight.

Yes Lennox pushed him and leaned on him whenever he could. The knockdown always looked shady to me. A sad tactic in a sad fight that should have happened when they were younger or never at all.

Tyson didn't do himself any favors by staying down. Neither guy deserved much praise here. Tyson only gave a good account of himself the first 2 rounds and then he just took a beating. Lennox wqs overly cautious and likely would have won an ugly boring lopsided decision or late round TKO had stewart not yelled at him.

This is Why you dont "milk" or "build hype" out of greed and wait till after both guys are shopworn and shells of their old selves.

I watch it whenever I see Mike beat Larry. That said, I have so much more respect and admiration for Mike since I joined this forum. Before I started here I really despised MIke, more for being a convicted ****** than beating grandpa Larry.

Mike was done after the first round with LL. I do think the Mike of the 90s would have beat LL pre-Steward. I don't think any version of Mike could have beat the Steward Lewis.

Showing him who was boss from the off. A psychological advantage.

Tyson quit trying to win Midway through the 2nd round. He braced himself for an asswhipping the rest of the way.

Was a while ago since I watched it (not a fan of beat downs like that, especially not when administrated to someone on the slide) and I remember quite a bit of leaning on Lewis's part, but I'm a bit surprised that it's mentioned here as some sort of revelation. Other greats (Wlad and Ali perhaps especially) have also used it as much as they could get away with, and Lewis was warned as I remember it and it had no effect on the eventual outcome. Mike was target practice after round 1. Lewis hardly had to "Ruiz" him to win.

Many fighters push away their opponents during a fight, Carlos Monzon, is a perfect example, during his bouts if you notice. He always pushed his opponents away when they were trying to come in close to him, to keep them at bay.
