Penfold got Rhodes and Brook through his relationship with FW. Then he jumped to Hayemaker. Now he gets fighters from Hearn he feels he has to defend him on twitter. The best kid he brought through was Jerome Wilson. People should read his book to find out his view.
Coldwell has a point. Saying 'just make it' is simplistic in the extreme. Lewis can rightly say he was a challenger but ultimately when he talks about legacy some will say he took too long to fight Tyson even after he became a champion, and Bowe is a missing name he should have fought. Now, I know reasons as to why that was the case, but it doesn't mean they don't apply now.
Coldwell does have a point. The facts are they’re all greedy ****s who want what’s best for them (and I can’t really blame them).
Lewis talks about legacy and he's right to, but Joshua is still pretty young for a heavyweight. To compare them like for like age-wise, at this stage of Joshua's career (22-0, WBA, IBF, WBO, British, Commonwealth, Olympic Gold), Lewis had a similar record (25-1), and had also been WBC champion as well as European, British, Commonwealth and Olympic Champion.) The point I'm making is that people are talking about Joshua like he's got to get a quick move on or his legacy will suffer. Lewis has a great legacy and was out of the world title picture at Joshua's age for a further two and a half years and arguably didn't face anyone at an elite level until he ran into Holyfield nearly five years later. Joshua clearly has a lot of time on his side and if he ends up with a legacy anything close to Lewis' he'll have done well.
I don't think anyone really has a problem with how quick Joshua's pro career is moving. Guys like Lennox just don't like him and want to knock him, and the only way to do that is by holding him to much higher standards than everyone else.
You do get the impression that Lewis is a tad bit threatened by the bodybuilder Joshua. And the jealousy is beginning to show, with these media attacks.
Some clearly do have an issue with it. If you'd never seen a fight in your life and had to assess his career from posts on here for example you'd have some telling you he's a protected fighter, terrified of both Fury and Wilder, who will do anything he can to avoid them, as will his promoter.
But the guys on here all know that Joshua's pro career started many years after Fury and Wilder's, and that his CV is impressive after 22 fights. People just resent his popularity and wealth when compared to other boxers, and to a lesser extent how he picked up the belts.
I don't think any one f resents his popularity and wealth. I for one am glad to see boxers paid millions and millions and be at the forefront of sports news, considering the sacrifices they make in and outside the ring.. People resent the fact that he talks and wants to behave like he is the best, yet isn't willing to face the best. All this ''he's only had 22 fights' rubbish ignores the fact he is now a champion. If you want to act like he is still a prospect, well then he should relinquish those belts and continue fighting nearly men The fact is he is only one year younger than Fury and has 5 less fights than Fury and still hasn't defended his belt outside of the uk or fought anyone credible since his life and death fight with the 40 year old inactive Klitschko. People talk like he's 23 years of age and just started boxing last year. It's bloody ridiculous
If Fury was popular enough to fill stadiums in the UK as opposed to fighting second bill on Frampton cards or acting as chief support to Chisora at the Copperbox he'd not be fighting abroad either.
Coldwell is a detestable little rodent. I'd never tire of throwing some abuse his way. Lennox clearly has a bee in his bonnet about AJ. He needs to stfu and stop putting blame on AJ publically. Both sides are to blame.
