+1 Worljamn I have no qualms with saying Lennox is an ATG and a very good fighter style wise, but please don't mention Ali in the same sentence. Lennox will be remembered for decades after he is gone, but the likes of Ali, Frazier, Marciano, Leonard, Robinson, Hagler and so on will be remembered for centuries after they are gone. Lennox is but a shadow of these great fighters who lived in the golden age of boxing.
Try and be a bit objective - its amazing how many times Holyfield was old or wasn't in his prime according to guys like you.
To be fair the biggest stumbling block for Lewis v Tyson was Lewis was contracted to HBO and Tyson Showtime and the TV rights and money split took years to sort out before being resolved. The fact that this fight was even made (even when they both were past their best - In Tyson's case waaaaaaaaay past) was a miracle. Seeing Jimmy Lennon Jr. standing side-by-side with Michael Buffer, good stuff.
Ok my mistake. In my haste i said 2nd instead of 3rd. He took on the most since Ali, and the 3rd most in the history of the Heavywieghts from what records can be determined. Still a nonsense claim!
Im an American and I think Lennox was a great fighter, Im also a Vitali fan and Im saying these words Lewis beat everybody, i mena everybody and only several guys can say they did that, Joe Louis beat every body, Ali beat everybody, Holmes beat every body Lennox beat the guys from before his era and all the guys during his era The only guy he didnt fight was Wlad but they had a fight lined up and Wlad blew it in a tune up Sure Tyson and Evander may not have been at their best but Holmes beat old Ali and Ali beat old Moore Actually plenty of guys beat an aged form of past champs to pass the torch Marciano beat an old Louis Tyson beat an old Holmes Holyfield beat an old Foreman Cooney beat an old Norton It happens Lewis lost two freak upset KO's but he came back and avenged them
Excellent. Man **** off already. You fail to see the greatness in Lewis, yet you hug Wlad's nuts all the time. Just admit you have a man-love for the Klitschkos, especially Wlad, and the fact that noone will ever regard either of them not even remotely as great as Lewis pisses you off. You can take ANY resume of ANY fighter and present it in a way that will make it look worse than it is. At least Lewis didn't got knocked the **** out by a journeyman with 13 losses on his record and he beat every man he faced, unlike your boy who called on his big bro to avenge his losses.
So does that mean Holy's win over Moorer DOESN'T count, because Holy was old? What about Tyson? Holy was old then too, let's ignore that as well. Or do only Holy's wins count past 1997? Let's ignore the losses then eh? I wish a Holy fan could be some definitive dates of when he was a decent/prime fighter. Seems to me he was Prime out of prime Prime Out of prime prime out of prime something like that. does that also mean Holy's wins over Foreman and Holmes mean **** all too? I mean, Holy was prime, and those guys were ancient.
What do these fighters all have in common? Wladimir Klitschko, Chris Byrd, Ike Ibeabuchi, Corrie Sanders, and Lamon Brewster. Answer: they all fought in the era of Lennox Lewis, and he ducked all of them. Remember this verbal exchange between Lennox and Wlad: http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Lennox+is+making+excuses+to+duck+me,+says+Klitschko.-a088768958
He was at the very end of his career and didn't fight them. Bit of a difference between that and ducking them.
Oh my ****ing god you are ******ed. Lennox Lewis ducked Lamon Brewster??? Corrie Sanders got beat by Hasim Rahman, that's why he never got his title shot. Ike Ibeabuchi was in jail. Chris Byrd?? Wlad Klitschko was too busy getting his arse kicked by club-fighters to get a shot at the title.
Good read but Lewis didnt duck them Wlad lost to Sanders though they had an agreed fight, Byrd yeah he did avoid him, Ike is in jail, Sanders not necessary won vs Wlad but I dont know if you can call it ducking and Brewster beat Wlad around the time Lewis fought Vitali and later retired
