Lennox is bad when the camera's on him, but during the fight I think he's actually pretty good once he loosens up.
As I understand it, Roy Jones was horribly inconsistent when it came to preparation and all the pre-fight responsibilities. I don't imagine HBO would want to endure that again. Regardless, I'm fine with pretty much whomever given that the man on the Clapham omnibus would almost certainly perform well above the level of Lewis at expert commentary.
ESPN reckon it wasn't Lennox's decision http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=5172002&campaign=rss&source=BOXINGHeadlines
I always liked Lennox Lewis' commentry. He provided better insights into the technical side of what was going on. Some of the commentators like Larry Merchant can be irritating as they don't have a clue what is happening and resort to fanciful statements.
Think about it fellas, Tyson has a great knowledge of boxing and more importantly can articulate it. Him and Larry going at it would be hilarious, viewing figures would go through the roof.
