Spinks was a great fighter though.

Morrison wasn’t a great fighter. He was good. Exciting I guess. But ultimately how can you bank on somebody who got knocked out in one round by Bentt?

Lewis did not win the title from Ruddock he fought him in a final eliminator for the WBC title in October 1992.
Lewis was awarded the vacant WBC ttile in May 1992 when Bowe refused to face him,His 1st title fight was against Tucker for which he was 235lbs. Marciano was 184 when he beat Walcott that 's a 51 lbs differential ,and no spluttering ,detouring, diverting, spin is going to change it!

You are without doubt the most infuriating poster to converse with on this forum. You should change your user name to Corkscrew!

I see images of Foreman vs Bert Cooper when I think of this match-up.

He 's got a couple of decs one of which was considered a robbery.I don't see anything impressive on his record or in footage of him, slow, average to decent puncher ,with poor defence and so/so conditioning.

Looks better pre Rocky then after that’s for sure. Fell way down hill after that but def some decent wins. The other ones I’d agree Morrison beats them.

Rocky ruined lots of guys, that systematic, incessant attack ,people don't believe me ,but like Frazier he was a grinder ,he broke your resistance, and often your spirit. Those kind of fighters do more damage to you than those that spark you out with one shot ,Cokkell,Lastarza,Charles, were basically ****ed after facing him.

Dude .. what is your point ? Mine is very basic fact . Lewis primed in his thirties . In his thirties he weighed over 240 for every fight. At 240 to Marciano's prime weight of 187 the difference is that sam as a Jr. Middle and a Light Heavy ... it is what it is .. that's my point.

Lot of talentless fighters/athletes could/can bulk their body and i think a Marciano type superb athlete can gain weight easily but i think in
Rocky's case this wasn't important at all.He was one of the greatest puncher with an outstanding stamina.
I don't know only one case when Marciano had problem with his weight.
Lewis is another case once time he was too light -this is the reason why he bulked-later sometimes he looked overweight (Rahman 1/Vitali fights) .Somehow Lewis' pathetic weight torture looks ridiculous.

Rocky defended his title six times ... Walcott was a 192 pound , 38 year old , La Starza was a 185 pounder , Charles was a blown up light heavyweight, Cockell was a blown up middleweight and Moore was a blown upon light heavyweight .. please fill me on on the championship caliber large heavyweights Rocky displayed this power on and I hope you can do better than an ancient Joe Louis ..

The depleted version of Joe Louis that Marciano fought was still at least as good as somebody like Ray Mercer or Trevor Berbick though.

just because he was no longer the man who beat Max Schmeling in one round doesn’t make this a worthless win. Louis was still beating good opponents and legitimately the leading contender on merit.

If you watch film of Louis versus Cesar Brion and compare it to Ezzard Charles against Cesar Brion, Louis did just as well. Equally you could look at film of Jimmy Bivins against Doc williams after Louis fought him and see for yourself Bivins was still quite handy because he went on to beat Cokes Wallace and mike dejohn.

Louis was kept away from punchers in his last fights.Mercer might very well have stopped him.
