You haven't seen Golota's arm after Austin? ... and you include this along Lewis and Brewster? Also Tyson doesnt count as well .. this belongs to Bowe/Grant mental issues. Lewis and Brewster are the only legitimate examples ...
Thats how I feel as well, Lewis did what was in his best interest .... it somethings like with Jones Jr ... "he knocked me out because he was afraid of me".
I remember I was hyped for this fight, expecting a compelling contest. Got to the pub a little after it's scheduled start and couldn't believe when they told me it was over, KO1 Lewis. It was entirely unexpected. If the lidocaine played a part I wouldn't be surprised, even with Golota's past and future breakdowns. He did not look right watching the fight back.
Hard to say what truly happened as with Golota you never know what could happen with him. The injection may have had an effect, or it maybe he just froze against a guy he didn't think he could beat. Mentally Golota has never been there despite all his ability. Look what happened when he fought Tyson that loss had as much to do with Golota being intimidated by Tyson as being outfought. Lewis used Golota as a sparring partner earlier in his career and I suspect he knew he was superior hence why he abandoned his usual cautious style and looked for the early KO. Golota probabaly knew this too and froze. It's a real shame Golota never had the mental stability to go with his actual ability he was good enough to pick up a title and beat many of the men he lost to.
The old maxim of punching someone repeatedly in the face until they fall over. Lewis started just as hot against Akinwande remember, but Henry got freaked out by this (his training was all expecting Lewis to jab & move) and turned into an octopus. 6'7 guys doing the octopus are harder to shift. Golota didn't have the same Kung Fu Grip as Akinwande.
Or defense. Golata held his hands low. Not a hard guy to hit and he doesn't react well when tagged as he had shown in previous bouts to the Lewis fight. He's right there to be hit by Lewis and is available for right hands. And then take that Golata defense against a finisher like Lewis and the handspeed and size of Lewis. So just what bag of tricks was Golata going to resort to when tagged and hurt and there is time to kill left in a round?
You think The New York Times made up this story? The poor guy was a walking zombie. Lewis might ass well had punched a coma victim.
They didn't make up the story. They reported what Golota's promoter said. Golota's promoter most likely made that **** up. You know why.
In general of course Lewis gets credit, but against Golota only a hater or Lewis hugger puts Lewis on a pedastal.
