Sanders would start out being the aggressor - but what happened to those that were aggressive against Lennox? He fought fire with fire and outgunned them. Lennox TKO within 3
Where was that otherwordly power against marshmellow chinned Hasim Rahman? Sanders was a one trick pony. Dangerous, but predictable. There's a reason why he couldn't land anything on Vitali after round 1. Barring off nights, Lewis plays it safe early and eventually stops him.
I don't understand why people attack Lewis for not giving Sanders a shot. He was seen as a fringe contender for most of his career, brought no money to the table and couldn't secure a mandatory position. He also lost to Rahman, who got a shot instead.
Sanders landed plenty on Vits after round 1. I agree with you that it got less and less but he still landed lots after round 1. That was a good fight imo.
So many seem to hate on Sanders :think I think how people (including me) talk about his POTENTIAL seems to annoy people :think I guess it drives some crazy when guys like me go on about his potential but its just my opinion, imo the dude had unusually fast hands and good pop to boot. Plus he had a very smooth delivery without "telegraphing" very much which is far harder to defend against. Do I think Sanders could beat a top 10 or Lewis? No. That doesn't stop me from recognizing his talent as well as his potential to have "potentially" gone a lot farther than he did.
Vitali's so tall and rolled with the punches, Sanders couldn't hit him in bunches. Just a clean punch here and there. Height wouldn't be a problem against Lewis: https://d.ibtimes.co.uk/en/full/307145/sensless-death.jpg
Height may not have been an issue for Sanders against Lewis but reach would have been. Sanders had a pretty short reach for his height, only 77". Lewis would have a 7" reach advantage, he wouldn't have found it easy to land his counter left due to the reach disparity.
A face first aggressive southpaw vs a guy with a huge right hand? Lewis knocks Sanders out whenever he feels like it.
And Lewis had an 82'' inch reach: https://youtu.be/jVBxJTqdtf8?t=1300 so the difference wouldn't be more than 5'' Not enough to keep Sanders at bay. Plus that Sanders's much faster. Lewis were slower than Klitschko - in terms of footspeed - and he couldn't avoid Sanders, neither Klitschko could in fact... I'm going with Sanders.
