I didn't see the fight when it happened but overheard a guy in lecture hall say "300+ punches landed and a draw?"
that fight was a robbery. I had Lewis winning it clearly and that was with me horribly favoring Holyfield. I was shocked when it was declared a draw. In reality it was more 8-4, hell, even 9-3 I could understand.
It's in amongst the top 5 worst robberies of all time. Disgraceful night for boxing, even the yanks thought it was bull****.
Anyone who scored it for Holyfield is ****ing clinically insane, Im serious. It was such a clear Lewis victory it was pathetic and disgraceful when the draw was read. I wanted to ****ing murder the judges. I was furious
Watching it live as a kid I thought it was a complete robbery and thought all the judges should've been banned from boxing. Re-watching it and actually scoring the fight, I had Lewis winning 9-3. Still a complete robbery.
Yeah, I thought Lewis won it 8 rounds to 4, while the second fight I thought was a alot tougher to score, in which I called it a draw, because there really was no clear winner in IMO, though I'm happy Lewis got the nod because of how the first ended. Lewis/Mercer was whole nother story, I really thought Ray did enough to win that match, he landed the cleaner blows, and made Lewis back up alot.
Clearly...Your crazy if u think that was CLEARLY his round imo. Don't try and compensate for lewis winning the 1st 2 rounds. View round 3 as a round on it's own and my guess is many people would give lewis the round
Even Stevie Wonder and Jose Feliciano saw that Lewis beat Holy in March of '99...:smoke MR.BILL P.S. Lewis also beat Holy in the stinky rematch of 1999, as well.... Holy had ONE good round in which he rocked Lewis, but on points, Lewis was well ahead after 12.....
Oh cmon man there's absolutely no reason to go over this again. Lewis won CONVINCINGLY and it was a TRAVESTY. Doing their second fight would be much more interesting.
