Is there any need for a poll on this?

Lewis clearly won and it's one of the biggest robberies of all time.

Anyone picking Holyfield is quite simply an idiot.

    Bull****.

First minute: Lewis starts with a 4 punch combo, of which the right hand lands. He [Lewis] follows up with a few jabs, and a 1-1-2 that again, lands, after that. Holyfield retaliates with a headbutt when Lewis is on the ropes, but no punch landing. Lewis lands another 1-2 after that. Both throw a few lazy jabs. Holyfield attempts a left hook and right hand, both of which land on Lewis' shoulders, though the crowd roars somewhat. Holyfield throws 3-4 punches, all blocked, then lands one right hand (notice this is the first punch Holyfield lands, against Lewis' more than a hand full). Edge: Lewis

Second minute: Holyfield jabs and glances a few, Lewis lands a right uppercut (not flush). Lewis lands a few jabs, Holyfield throws left hook-right hand, of which the right lands, followed by a left hook on Lewis' arm. Lewis retaliates with a short right of his own. Holyfield misses a few more punches before landing a left hook, of which Lewis moved with the punch. Holyfield lands another right hand, misses the uppercut. Lewis lands a few lefts. They are seperated and Lewis connects with a right uppercut/left hook. Lewis misses a 1-2 but lands a three punch combo to Holyfield's head afterwards. Edge: Holyfield (close)

Last minute: not much action at first, then Lewis lands a left hook and misses an uppercut. Holyfield comes forward, takes a few lacklustre punches, but lands the right hand flush, throws the left hook but is blocked.
Lewis lands a right hand / left hook. Holyfield lands a glancing right hand as Lewis pulls away, but Lewis lands a huge uppercut flush right after. Holyfield attempts a few more hooks but are blocked again. Lewis lands a 1-2. Lewis lands another flush right hand. Lewis throws an arm-punch right that connects. End of the round which Lewis closes strong, not Holyfield. Edge: Lewis (close)

Altogether, Holyfield landed a few very good shots, but Lewis landed much more of them. You have to ignore a lot of those (like the crowd did) and count the punches that Holyfield threw on Lewis' gloves and arms as flush punches to count this as a "clear" round for Evander. I think it's a close Lewis round because he, quite simply, did more, started stronger and ended stronger. Although i don't agree, i can understand someone scoring this round for Holyfield, but by no means is it a clear Holyfield round!

Gotta laugh at those ******s like Ron Borges who thought this fight was a draw. I wonder if Zakman managed to squeeze in a Lewis round somewhere on his scorecard. The 8 people voting for Holyfield would be better off taking up a different sport.

As for Barry McGuigan (spelling), he's always been very biased against Lewis.

Not sure with Bazza sometimes - he dislikes Audley Harrison intensely as well, but he worships Amir Khan.

The scoring of the 5th round in this fight is the most disgraceful scoring ever. The end scoring was shocking too.

    :D Comedy timing!

All the way up to the most recent interview I've seen with Evander mentioning it, back around 2006 or 2007, he was still insisting that he did not lose the first fight with Lewis. And not on a 'the official result was a draw' kind of deal, that he actually did not lose. As far as he's concerned the draw was correct and possibly a little harsh on him, and he deserved a comfy points decision in the rematch.

There's a bit of a credibility gap between "scared shitless to throw a punch" and throwing 59 of the damn things, including in combination.

    Anyway...

    1 Lewis
    2 Lewis
    3 Holyfield
    4 Lewis
    5 Lewis
    6 Lewis
    7 Lewis
    8 Lewis
    9 Holyfield (just)
    10 Holyfield
    11 Lewis
    12 Lewis

    Lewis 117-111

    It's a strong 9-3 or a possible 10-2 I feel.
The rematch, a strong 7-5 or a possible 8-4 (my choice).

I think most of the 8 voters for Holyfield just did it for a laugh.
Although if anyone here is willing to stick their neck out and lay out a Holyfield victory, always welcome of course.

BTW Ron Borges didn't have it a draw, he had it for Lewis...a, and I quote, "razor-sharp 115-114" victory with Holyfield sweeping the last 5 rounds on his goofy scorecard. But even Ron, Lewis critic 4 life yo, couldn't bring himself to call it a draw.

I will say that I thought Holyfield performed better in rounds 3 & 10 of the first fight than in any round in the rematch apart from the 7th.

The rematch, Holyfield was generally more even, more consistant. The first, he put a lot into the 3rd and had a frustrating time getting back into it when that didn't work. He pushed hard again in the 9th and 10th but when that didn't come off, he was out of time.

A similar thing happened with his fights against Ruiz. The first one, peaks and troughs, the second and third more evenly paced.

I am a Holyfield fan but on that night I was ashamed to be a Boxing fan period. What a damn disgrace that Decision was. Don King is a cancer for Boxing. Lewis EASILY won that fight.

Thank You. Most people would make it a holyfield round because evander lost the 1st 2, but in reality, this was a very close round that could go either way.

Lewis clearly won the 1st fight; no one in their right mind could say otherwise.
Although I thought Lewis won the 2nd fight, I can understand some people having the rematch a draw or a close Holyfield win.

I got Holyfield winning this one. It was close though but I think the judges were influenced by the first meeting which was a clear robbery.

Holyfield - Lewis = draw and a Lewis victory is correct because Lewis won the first and the second was very even The just should have reversed the scorecards.
