I have to say the second fight was closer than the first. Lewis won the rematch but not by much in my eyes..
If the poll was public, I bet there wouldn't be more than 5 votes up there for Holy. But imo whoever gives this fight to Holyfield, should start watching badminton instead of boxing, seriously.
I originally thought Lewis won a very wide UD. After re watching it around 3 years ago i watched it without the British nuthugging of Ian Darke and Glen McCrory and i ended up having it 115-115. Again i rewatched the rematch without the commentary and had Holyfield up 115-113. After watching both fights Lewis won his rounds big, but throughout the fight Holyfield was plugging away and being pretty busy at stealing rounds whilst Lewis was standing back admiring his work.
it wasn't just Ian Darke and Glen Mccrory who thought Lewis won the fight easily. The rematch was either 8-4 or 7-5 in favor of Lewis
Normally you'd berate the 2 people that voted 'draw'...byt they're still closer than 13 other voters. Would any of those 13 be willing to stick their neck out and present a scorecard?
What about Stanley Christadoulu? He scored the fight as an easy win for Lewis, and even went on record for HBO saying he thought the fight was easy to score and he thought Lewis clearly won. The British judge later said he made a mistake and Lewis won. The American judge, her excuse was that apparently, whenever Lewis was landing punches, his back was to her and she couldn't see them land. Even though it was proved by looking at replays that this wasn't the case. If I recall correctly, round 4 or 5, the one Lewis won EASILY and was landing on Evander at will.. she even scored that for Holyfield!
And whoever said Holyfield looked like he had no rhythm, couldn't get his punches off, etc etc. Why is it that when someone says this about a fighter, its just something wrong with the fighter? Don't you think Holyfield couldn't do anything offensively because Lewis was upsetting his rhythm by landing all those uh... ****, what do you call them. You know, those things you use to win fights... oh yeah... PUNCHES
first fight atsch Scorecard please Mr Holyfield or do you prefer Evander ? Remember Lewis threw 615 holy threw 385 Lewis landed 348 and holy landed 130 so lewis landed nearly as many as holy threw and you had it 115-115 ????? You need to learn how to score Lewis won near every round the 3rd that was holy's clearly but other than that your clutching at straws. I've been covering boxing twenty years. I would put this in the top five for the worst decisions I've seen." - This content is protected ( This content is protected boxing analyst) "A travesty." - New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani "The judges verdict was the most disgusting decision I've ever seen in boxing." - Former WBC champ This content is protected "This is what is killing boxing." - This content is protected (Lewis' trainer)
1st fight: 118-111 Lennox 2nd fight: 115-112 Lennox Lewis was ****ing robbed in the first fight. It was a hijacking, a sham and a fraud. The scores in the 2nd were far more reflective of what went on in the ring.
