FH, i love your posts mate and dont want to incur your wrath but regarding your thoughts on Lewis liking to slug it out with the big guys, your 99% right, he just loves to jump right on these big guys ( i had money on the correct rounds in the golota and Grant fights), BUT.......he aint stupid enough to try it with big george IMO. If he did, the fight would be over within 2 rounds:good
:good Agree, personally i think Lennox has too much in his locker for George, a point George made himself on numerous occasions. Also did George ever face anyone with Lewis' power and accuracy, i don't think he did and on this point i think Lennox by late stoppage.
Lewis wins this fight by Stoppage. Lewis wasn't great boxer but he had a good jab and good right hand, plus he had too much reach on Lewis to get in on him. Vitaili would stop Foreman too, and I don't think Vitaili is as great as a lot of other people do.
This fight would be a great war . I would say Lewis by a mid round TKO. Heres why. First of all i see Lewis throwing a lot of straights and upercuts as it is not hard to land on Foreman. His poor defence would mean Lewis lands first every time in what would turn out to be a great slugfest. Theres no doubt Lewis could take a fare few of Foremans bombs he took great punches from the likes of Mercer Tua Briggs Grant. His KOs do have excuses . Rahman and McCall both hit harder than Ali but we dont say George has a **** poor chin. Lewis is much bigger and stronger than Foreman. Lewis is taller , reach advantage , heavier stronger . ALi was tying up with Foreman and was effective with leaning , Lewis would have a field day. I see Lewis on the back foot but landing well for the first few rounds but the rounds being closely won by Foreman. Then Lewis would find his groove and engage a bit more Landng big punches like Foremans grill burnt his chicken and would stop George between 5-7 IMO.
It's funny how some think Lewis is stronger than George. No way. :bart George, in '73-'74 was faster than some think. George tended to become ponderous later but could show signs of quickness in his reflexes and such early on.
Well yeah i think Lennox was stronger in actual physical strength than George. Foreman maybe had the better dig, but no way was he has strong in the clinch and at tying up. Lewis was a master of this. Straights and uppercuts is the main reason why Lewis definately beats Foreman and his wide hayemakers. I think Lennox could have a lot of fun in this fight.
Before reading this thread I would have definitely favored Foreman; however the comments have made me rethink my position. I think that Lewis must let his hands go, and that he can draw George in, if he wants, but mustn't get to skittish in his footwork. The two extremes Lewis mustn't go to: 1) brawling with George; 2) trying to evade George to the extent that his (Lennox's) aren't well planted -- Lewis has to have enough on his punches to disrupt George; if there isn't, George will track him down and finish him.
George didn't tie up fighters. He usually pushed them around. Think what you want, I'll still favor George in strength.
Lennox is bigger and heavier and always looked strong against other 6ft 6" 240lbs+ fighters. George always looked strong against the like of 200lbs 5ft 11" fighters such as Frazier.... I think nostalgia is effecting the way your brain works
Nostalgia?? No. Reality. I guess it's impossible to actually determine their strength without something to gauge it. I do remember someone posting a picture with George holding a cow on his shoulders when a planned photo session went wrong.
