Steward trained Lewis well enough to win this fight on points. I see this fight halfway between the fights of Holyfield Vs. Foreman and Lewis Vs. Tua.
Prime (with Manny Steward) Lennox might stop younger Foreman. The same Lennox would win a very wide decision over old Foreman. Now young Foreman against pre-Manny Lennox, I think George would stop Lennox. It should also be noted that old Foreman actually said on camera he didn't want any part of Lennox.
LOL I was stood near George when someone asked him if he could have beaten Lennox He said " Noooo!! I don't want none of that big right hand of his" lol
George said that about everyone. He always gave other guys massive props. Remember he wanted “no part” of Norton or Frazier either. As to this fight, well it’s all about styles. I think there is every argument that Foreman is the greater fighter (just) and in many respects has the weapons that could easily KO Lewis. But my feeling is Lewis wins by decision after copping some punishment but ultimately just having the smarts to stay out of Foreman’s way whilst landing enough of his own artillery. It’s a barn-burner of a contest though.
I would favor Lennox Lewis very slightly head to head against George Foreman. The problem is Lennox going for the KO as many have mentioned may be the thing that would cause him to lose. If Lennox boxes smart, I would go with him to win by decision or very late stoppage. If Lennox gets drawn into trying to knock George out, I think George would knock Lennox out instead.
Lennox had one glaring fault he tended to take his so called easier opponents Lightly & that's what cost him two KO losses. The guys that people claimed would beat him he took seriously & destroyed them eg Ruddock , Golota. & Bowe would have been next if he'd not chickened out Lennox &Manny Steward were a formidable team. My fav KO was the rematch with Rahman Rock was out cold on the canvas with his head perfectly placed in the Crown of the King logo on the canvas It was classic
Lewis had the composure and skills under Stewart but very dangerous fight for Lennox because Foreman hit way harder than McCall and Rahman and both men KO'd Lewis with one punch.
Lewis, he’d use his footwork to draw Foreman onto jabs and straight punches and tapping to the side of Foreman’s guard with the left to set up the right, Foreman would walk guys down in the same feet patterns which would mean Lewis could time that rhythm. Lewis on points.
