Fair play to Grant though - he kept on swinging, trying to land a fight-turning punch, it just wasn't happening. And he always got up (or tried to in the case of the last one) from his knockdowns, even from that crushing knockdown against Guinn. Lewis was only a 2-1 favourite against Grant, and just 8-5 vs Golota (with some rumours of the odds falling to 7-5 or even 6-5 in the last couple hours before the fight). Several scribes in particular predicted doom against Golota, but there y'go. I still do like Golota though! He has a special kind of nutty charisma...if he only could've had a stronger mentality back then, as he seems to have developed now, he could've been a champion.
Though I've seen the fight before, I was surprised this time around to see how long the ref let the Grant fight go for. These days, I think the fight would have been stopped with that last knockdown in the first. That just looked brutal.
Eh? No he didn't, you're making stuff up! He beat the count and the ref stopped the fight, you must be confused....
Where do you rate him? The majority of this board have him somewhere around 5-10 all-time with a couple who rate him just outside that range either way. If you think that is "grossly overrated", post your all-time top-10 and I bet I can pick holes out of at least 7 of them. Rating a fighter is subjective.
you got a lot of nerve. i've never been dishonest about golota's shortcomings, i just dont speak of them... just like i dont speak of lennox's shortcomings ...often
my god! michael grant....now that's a paper mache chin :nod dude was on ***** street. looks like he suffered three or four concussions in this one fight :yep :yep
