Based on what? Can't see why he would be more favored than Beterbiev or Bivol or Marciano even

 

Small chance if the stars align including Lewis being complacent.
But Jack sat on his title for a long while, you compare the best versions, or 2 lax ones.

Size with a great deal of skill makes a big difference here.

 

Hard to see Fireman Jim Flynn knocking out Lewis in 25 seconds.

 

I’m sorry Jack was good for his day although I’m not convinced he’s as good as his iconic status suggests.
Even if he is he’s up against a great big man conceding over 4 stone,plus a huge height and reach disparity.
Sometime size simply is an issue Jack hasn’t got a chance.

Man could you imagine getting knocked out when you're not at your best, avenging that lost and still being criticised for it? Lewis is lucky that he doesn't have to deal with that.

Arguing over decisions is a mug's game but a lot of people say he actually did. I tend to abide by the judge's decisions.

 

Because he proved himself to be very effective at overcoming a size disparity, including against world class opponents of the size of Lewis.

This makes it less of a leap of faith than it would be to pick Bivol or Beterbiev over Lewis.

I assume we're putting younger Dempsey in the future bcuz Dempsey and his team would've drawn the color line vice versa.

I think Dempsey and Langford have the best chance to stand against the super hvys of recent yrs from any fighters that I know of. Not saying Dempsey beats Lewis I favor the opposite in a one sided beating.

BTW I have a Pollack book on Dempsey I needa finish.

In agreement that Dempsey did overcome much bigger opposition, as big as they was for that time in the HW division, Lewis was an altogether different proposition, height wise there is not a lot of difference, between the 3 very big men Dempsey fought, they being Fulton, Willard, and Firpo, but weight wise there is a bigger difference, as far as I can ascertain, they all weighed around 225 give or take, Lewis however, at the business end of his career tipped the scales at something like 245 or more, that is a big disparity, also while Fulton and Firpo had admirable physiques, Willard most certainly didn't, he had the look of a untrained wrestler, whilst he offered up eye watering courage, and stoic resistance, he was there for the slaughter in his defense against Dempsey.
As to your assertion they were " world class opponents " not seeing it that way myself, of course Willard was a champ, kudos for that, but we all know his defeat of Johnson was due more to Jacks age and condition, the heat, and Jess being the younger man, you may or may not want to throw in the dive, Fulton / Firpo not so sure, big strong men who could hit yea, but will the phrase " Dempsey beat world class fighters like Firpo and Fulton " ever roll of the lips ! no glaring put down on your post or posts ( which are top drawer ) just the way it looks to me, others will see it differently, I am sure.
