Stalin was just as much an opportunist as Adolf , and allowing him to marshall his forces and possibly stab the Germans in the back while they were mopping up what remained of the BEF seemed a risky move to the house painter.
Hitler always intended to invade Russia he wanted to subjugate the Slavs as slave labour and the huge amount of land that would have become available for Liebesraum was also a major incentive ,then too taking Russia would leave the way clear to the oil fields on Russias other borders.
Germany's campaign in Russia was a victim of it's own success, exacerbated by the speed with which they overran vast tracts of the country, the Jerries ran out of supplies,and could not get the job done before the winter set in.

Anyway I see Dempsey dropping Lewis during the fight , that's probably because he's my favourite fighter, but he would be no picnic for anyone.
I'm not going to pick a winner here .

 

The only problem I have with that is Dempsey seemed naturally to favour the left hook, and it was big right hands that bothered Lewis, but anything is possible when two guys who hit very hard collide.

Your reading comprehension is shocking. We were obviously talking about pre WW1, which as I say was the economic powerhouse of the continent. Britain felt threatened by German imports Pre WW1, it marked all German Goods 'Made In Germany' to try and encourage Brits not to buy them, but because they were seen as better quality it actually had the opposite effect.

Germany's economic state after WW1 was due to the reparations payments.

Dempsey is perhaps right up there in terms of being the hardest puncher in history. Lewis had to throw so many right hands before Tyson's exhaustion gave in.

We have all seen Leni's legendary ability to take a big shot to the face from 2 B-C level fighters.

 

This chin argument makes almost no sense to me.

Let's say Lewis who fought 44 fights was hit roughly 5 clean times a fight to his chin, which by any measure is a ridiculously low number.

So you him being hit cleanly 220 times, by the likes of Tua, Tyson, Holyfield, Vitali, Mercer etc. So of those 220 clean times he was hit in the chin he went down exactly twice.

That's less than 1%. and even if you say well he fought 44 times and lost twice because of his chin, that's still 2/44 = 4.5%

So a fighter has between a 1%-4.5% chance of stopping Lewis based on his record, and yet people basis their whole prediction, on this occurring.

It's a very weak argument and it tells you more about the poster and his hatred for Lewis than any meaningful ****ysis.

 

I just love it whenever you take things so personally whenever i remind people of the girl that Lenni is. Here is the Fact, he went down twice like a girl in his career to lesser fighters. For such a big strong man, to go down twice like that in humiliating circumstances is just shameful, no all time legendary fighter has ever been starched like this by just one big shot to the face especially by lesser fighters.

His chin was his weak spot. Was he hit 5 clean times or 220 make up your mind? His chin and ability to take a big punch to the face will be the determining factor when matching him against the all time greats from boxing history.

 

Getting hit 5 times a fight for 44 fights equals 220 times.

As for taking anything on this site personally, you've got me confused with someone who gives a **** what people like you say.
