That's obvious mate, but far from the point.

While Miske was indeed shot when he fought Dempsey for the third time he was still verry dangerous.

Yeah, like they wouldn't make allowances is a huge box office attraction (on the scale of ali or Tyson) insisted. This is boxing. They'll bend any rules where they see fit.

Talked. But didn't do. End of argument.

That's what I think. It could easily be a massacre. But then again, maybe everything that was learnt by 1920 was erased from history and fighters after that have no knowledge of what went before that's why skills and technique have disappeared. That's the way it works.

Maybe it's because dominant champions of the past 40 years have generally weighed around 210 pounds and over. I know this upsets you because you're a small, squat man yourself but accept reality. We know it's not all about size, but that size with lewis is added to great power, fine technique and a jab that's light years away from Jess willard and Firpo.

I strongly disagree with this comment Sonny's jab, especially about the rock.

"in Lewis we have a fighter who hits harder than anyone Dempsey has been hit by . . ."

How do you know Lewis hit harder than Firpo?

And Firpo was accurate enough to hit Dempsey a number of times both before and especially after Dempsey was knocked out of the ring.

As I explained earlier there's no good reason for a terrific 190 pound fighter to stay at 190 to take on men in thje unlimited class.
But it's a logical mistake to conclude that he was totally incapable of doing so had he remained at 190.

Of course no one can gauge this. What we do know is that lewis was huge skill levels above Firpo and punched more accurately and had a far better jab.

If a "shot" Miske (who had to gain 85 pounds after severe illness) was still dangerous to Dempsey not much more need be said.

One thing I will say is I do think that guys like marciano and dempsey should be given the fair chance able to bulk up and to 205-210lb like holy and spinx did. Because I am sure there trainers wouldnt throw them in the ring vs lennox at 185lb, but at around 205lb at least with proper modern technology they could pull it off.

Also look at some of heavyweight champs........Michael Spinx was heavyweight champ he was under 200lb. beat the great larry holmes.

Evander Holyfield, a blown up 190lber, who at 205lb proved you could beat some very good superheavyweights including the great riddick bowe. Evander arguebably deserved a draw in the 2nd lennox fight, this is a blown up cruiser vs the best superheavweight ever .

How bout Chris Bryd, who in my RING magazine article claims he naturally weighs "195lb" and has to eat and bulk his way up over 200lb for fights. Bryd was champion for many years

James Toney a 38 year old Obese former middleweight was royally robbed in the first fight against a prime superheavyweight slugger sam peter.

roy Jones 193lb dominated 226lb john ruiz

    - John Thomas and MDWC, i think if you take a look at a superheavy like Buddy Baer, he was actually quite similiar in terms of atheletiscm, defense, punching technique movement in to the big men today.

Yes, your post was a good one. But the truth is that even you lot think that, say, two identical twins with similar skills, mindset etc, fought each other, but one weighing 190 the other 220, you'd favour the guy at 220. Yes, you'll say "but jack was special". I agree he was, but not compared to the other top 10 heavyweights of all-time- he probably doesn't get in many top 10s nowadays as it is.

Evidence on film or i call bull****.

People from 80 years ago claiming that a guy had a great jab without any real evidence to back it up means nothing.
