Ed Martin was 200 pounds and a middling heavyweight whereas Lewis was 240 and a great heavyweight. Johnson was in front of Willard because Willard was playing for the distance. Can you imagine Jess eating Lewis' Sunday punches and still standing? Willard truly has one of the thinnest resumes in the heavy champ list and losses to Rodel, Cox and Smith don't exactly bolster than mankiller reputation some like to propogate.
Noted. One specific tendency of Lewis that I like in this fight is his ability to punch around defenses. When in shape, he used his feet and punch delivery very well to get around gloves. He also put punches together very well in this regard.
