Much like Foreman over Frazier. I don't see the great Joe Frazier matching up well against big old Lummox Lewis. I see a heavyweight version of Duran vs Hearns. Lewis by brutal KO but Fraizer keeps trying to get up :good
You didnt just compare Tua to Joe Frazier did you? :nono I take Lennox in the fight though, bad stylistic matchup for Joe Im afraid.
Especially when that fighter is Larry Holmes, who seems to ALWAYS have some agenda when picking fights.
Thats got to be one of the shittiest takes on a fight Ive heard in a long time. Boxing just doesnt work this way. Tyson and Holy were class A fighters as well. :deal
It's a close pick, but I'm thinking Frazier stops Lennox late.Nobody coldcocked Joe, not even Foreman, so I'm thinking Lennox will be leading on the cards when Joe takes him out.
Its an interesting match my gut tells me it would look something like the tyson/lewis match where tyson came out early throwing bombs then slowly declined with each passing round leading to an 8th round knockout I see this match going the same unless frazier catches lewis with a flash knockdown like he did against ali in there first match which is very possible the way lewis keeps his hands low at times
Might want to add power to the equation as well. Personally I don't think it would be all that close, stylewise, Lewis would be Frazier's worst nightmare come true. A huge, skilled, powerful heavyweight who uses his size extremely well and has a good jab and devastating uppercut to boot.
The Frazier that beat Ali would beat Lennox as well. Lennox has notthe heart to withstand the pressure Joe would bring. The Lennox that beat Tyson could beat Joe.
I love the "If McCall and Rahman" crap that always comes out. Really McCall is the only valid example because in any hypothetical match up we are taking a focused and peak fighter in either corner. Against Rahman, Lewis was chubby, had not prepared for the altitude and totally complacent. I do not call the Tyson who fought Douglas the peak Tyson. I do not call the Louis who fought Marciano peak and so on. You can aruge that Lewis against McCall was at least peak in terms of physique and prep but he got up. If being able to punch was all that was needed to beat Lewis then why the **** did Tyson, Tua, Ruddock, Bruno etc fail? Why is it that anyone thinks a fully focused Lewis with a healthy fear of Frazier gets destroyed? It is beyond me. Lewis beat everyone he faced. Why didnt McCall and Rahman win the second fights? Because he was ready and had the fear factor..the respect. When Lewis was focused he wiped out pretty much everyone. How would Frazier get past the jabs and the big rights? He was OWNED by Foreman and Lewis hits as hard and has a better jab. In a head to head at their peaks, Lewis actually comes better than he does in a general all time top heavy list.
