Frazier trapped Ali because Ali didn't have the hitting power of a Foreman or Lewis.
    HOLYFIELD is the correct spelling!
    I before E , except after C.

Funny how he only managed to" trap him", in one fight? Ali without the 4 years out of the ring, beats Frazier and Frazier's sheet ie 0-5 against the two great fighters he fought.
Lewis would welcome Frazier obligingly presenting himself for punishment picking him off at range with his eleven inches longer arms, stunning him with righthands at mid range ,and knocking his gumshield into the press row with uppercuts in close before grabbing the little man and leaning his 245lbs on him. If the referee doesnt rescue Joe from his own bravery in the mid rounds , Eddie Futch says "sit down son, no one will forget the hiding you took today".

Thats it! The difference was he was in with a monster hitting superheavyweight, and in Lewis he would be in with another only bigger and with more skills!

He had to feel his way in ,groping forward to find his opponent ,what a crock of absolute
    SH*T!

Exactly, chances are Lewis would be on the defensive against Frazier which could give Joe a good chance. If Lewis went out to destroy him early then he almost certainly does but Lewis for the most part never fought like that especially against a fighter who is known for being dangerous.

Well it's funny how the other two fights came after the period Frazier was rumoured to retire due to the effects of that first fight isn't it?

Look, I just think the intensity of Frazier of the first Ali fight would be far too much for Lennox Lewis. Just as I also think the intensity of a prime Tyson would have been far too much for Lennox too.

Your comparisons of Frazier are all based on the condition and existence of Frazier Of the George Foreman episode which came after the line in Fraziers career where he ceased to be a great fighter.

Your assessment is correct for that version of Frazier. You keep banging on about it. But it is no more the Frazier of his best fight than say Pinklon Thomas of the Holyfield fight. Or Micheal Dokes of the Coetzee fight. It is not relative to the version of Frazier I want to talk about.

Take any version of Lewis you like, he won't cope with the intensity of Frazier in the first Ali fight.

The intensity of prime Frazier would be too much. Like a younger Tyson would too.

    Weren't known as dangerous?
Of Lewis' last 16 wins, 8 of them came inside 5 rds.

Prime Frazier took 11 rds to stop a blubbery punchless Mathis .Prime Frazier went 15 rds with Bonavena without even flooring him.Ali dropped Oscar 3 times for the ko.Ellis dropped him, Folley dropped him.

I'd say Ruddock is the only fighter I'd call dangerous out of that list, you failed to mention one of those also sparked Lewis out.

Larry Holmes handled Mercer better than Lewis did. What is your point exactly?

Tillis went the distance with Tyson, a lot of people stopped Tillis but most people still favour Tyson to beat Lewis.

Lewis was a great man. A powerful, composed champion with top attributes. I just think, as with prime Tyson, a full on electric fighter with great intensity like Joe Frazier would be too much for him.

Yet again you are saying most of the Classic Forum doesn't know what it's talking about, don't even know how to make an informed choice.

Apart from a few obvious clowns the forum is extremely strong and well versed.

Perhaps the only knock might be that overall we as a collective are a teeny bit biased toward the older brigade.

In this one Frazier is the old brigade, yet the solid majority still pick Lewis.

    This is extremely telling.

Chances are very high.Lewis fights aggressively against big men, like Grant, Golota, briggs or Vitali. He fights more cautious against shorter men like Tyson, Morrison or Mercer, using the jab.

This would probably come down to a points decision

Foreman was floored by a young type, Ali was floored by a Sonny Banks type. What's your point?

Yeah it's just a broken hand, what's the big deal?
So Zeljko Mavrovic can go the distance with Lewis but Frazier can't?

    That's what I thought.
Lewis's preferred method was to back up a bit and keep it at range. Against men as big as himself he was more inclined to open up with full power aggressively and early.

Proof the hand was actually broken? He didnt seem in pain at any point in the fight, he didnt tell his trainer anything either. Definetly wasnt broken the way gattis hand broke against ward.

Young, peralta and Levi forte can go the distance against foreman but frazier cant?

God you cant be this dumb
