That Ali was still better than any version of Lewis though, Lewis had 2 inches on him. As for the reach that doesn't mean much when Frazier's footwork would get him into position. I think Lewis is a strong favourite here but I think a peak Frazier could surprise many.
Don't you think he was hitting Ali hard with his right hands too? The left way overshadowed his right. Joe favoured the left but nobody could say he didn't use the right or that it was a light blow. You don't have to watch much of the Ali fight to see joe really bury his right hand into Muhammads midsection. It set up the left and was a leverage punch. The right often is instrumental in generating a hard left hook. It still landing. And it was not a light blow.
You said he had all the ability and speed of a young Tyson. Tyson's right hand was "not a light blow" to say the least. His handspeed in a powerpunching shorter heavyweight must surely be close to unique. Frazier had some things Tyson did not, but he did not have his overwhelming speed and power in both hands. This is blatantly obvious.
Nor the fleetness of foot he had at his best. Lewis vs Frazier is almost completely style match up than Lewis vs Tyson. Frazier is a steady pressure fighter with terrific stamina, while tyson was kind of a "burst" type agressive fighter. Tyson has a chance to surprise and KO lewis with one of his bursts because of his hand and footspeed and 2 fisted KO power but fraziers pace and attack, even if very steady and increasingly intense over the rounds, is so predictable in addition to the fact that only the hook is really dangerous, that i dont see Lewis losing.
Frazier never knocked anyone down with a right hand.Lewis ko'd men with both hands spot the difference! Ali talked about Frazier's left after the fight he never mentioned his right .Now you want to make Frazier out to be some two fisted puncher? Par for the course I suppose." leverage punch ,set up the left hook ,"total nonsense! You get worse ,how is that even possible!
I think Lewis would beat that stationary version of Ali back yourself into a corner and throw pitty pat shoeshine punches against Lewis and you get ko'd.
The problem is he doesnt make those kinds of "frazier was near death" and "his right hand was so great" excuses and statements for the fighters he doesnt like and takes their worst attributes and tries to compare them to his favorite fighters best attributes. Just like he picked fraziers best night to compare to a bad night for lewis
How do you account for a crude lumbering non puncher like Valuev winning a title if not for his size? Do you think he could have done it had he been 6'4"& 225lbs ?
Mr Nonsense . You would think he would cop on to how he is viewed here but apparently not, lack of self awareness?
it could be that Fraziers left hook was twice the left hook Tyson had and Fraziers Right was half the punch Tyson had with his right. It still makes two equally potent fighters.
It's total nonsense to pretend I said Frazier had two fisted power! Frazier does not have to knock anybody down with a right hand! I never said Frazier had two handed power. I don't think it's wrong to suggest Frazier on his best night can be as effective as Tyson without having the two handed power. The way Frazier doubled it up, the ratio he landed it, the rage he could use it was quite something. His left was better than two hands of most champions. And I believe, at his best, he was as effective as Tyson. All I said was Fraziers right hand was not a light blow.[/QUOTE]
I think Lewis would have trouble landing big shots against the elusive Frazier. He would be well advised to use his jab and boxing ability against Frazier.
Beating Mercer was his best points win. Fraziers best points win and Lewis's best points win. Why not compare them?
