If Lewis uses his range and boxes he very well could win, similar to the Tua bout. But Louis was no Tua. He would get to Lewis and catch him big time. Lewis had a decent chin and excellent recuperation abilities but Louis would be no Briggs - who had Lewis hurt in the first round of their bout - if he hurts Lewis, and he would, bet on that, than he would finish him. Louis KO6 Lewis

Lewis was never a convincing pure boxer against live opposition. Thats the fight he'd have to fight to win this. And he never exhibited the sort of skills that he would need to keep JL on the end of his 84" jab. Most fighters with reach (Rahman) or good jabs (Mercer) or speed or size were competitive with lennox on the outside. He was at his best planting his feet and blasting guys out quick. Usually better opposition or guys with size/reach on him like Grant, Klitschko, Rahman.

He couldn't do that against the more skilled and quicker Louis, and would be outgunned by the sharper puncher at mid range. Just mo, but Lennox could keep flat footed short guys at the end of his reach, but he could never do that against truly great fighter like JL.

Yeah you can say joe louis is much better than briggs and tua, but lennox is also better than the guys joe defended his belt against.

I can not see Joe being able to stand up physicaly againt Lennox , better defence , superior punching power and ablity to use reach to dominate a fighter just tisp it to be Lennox for me.

Excellent recup abilities? Is that a joke? He was knocked out twice near his prime by one punch against non greats.

You don“t fight and win against as many punchers as Lewis did without having those. And there are arguments that Lewis should have been allowed to continue against McCall. He got up inside the count.

But why do you pick on that when I pick Louis just like you did?

Lewis' Legs were had so much wobble and rubber in them when he got up from that knockdown against McCall, the ref saved his life.
